I sure do.
I'd love to be able to clench and do other stuff, but when I do, it's like a tap is switched on.
Does this happen to anyone else?

Nope, never have, I’d bet you suffer from over active saliva glands.

Only when I'm working in the shop. Otherwise, I can control it.

Only with bent pipes. Not sure if it's because it's a bit of a relaxed clench but I have drool running down my chin but with a straight pipe no drool.

I clench my pipe most of the time, but for some reason I only seem to get a bit of drool when I am leaned forward doing something otherwise its a non issue. Usually a bit more with Aros.

My "smoking style" is still evolving, so there have been some changes over time that I really havent paid enough attention go. Small, less frequent puffs is 1 big one.
The biggest change from then til now is I used to love englishes and heavy lat blends. Now, 9 times out of 10, it's a straight VA or VaPer.

Button size of the stem can also contribute. A very thin button combined with a narrow slot, makes one of my pipes prone to this.

Paddy. Stop looking at girls when you clench! No to me. But I do know someone that this happens to also. I don’t seem to be affected.

I seem to want to spit a lot when I’m smoking my pipe, whether I’m clenching or not.

I don’t drool much when clenching, but occasionally when mowing the lawn I notice a bit of the drool.

I don't when mowing the lawn but, I concentrate on smoking it more then when having to concentrate on anything else to do. I've tried buffing pipes when clenching and I drool like a St. Bernard so just gave up trying to smoke while doing anything other then mowing the lawn. Read a book years ago called "Weber's Guide to Pipes and Pipe Smoking" and it stated that your mouth would start to dry out after smoking a pipe after awhile, after about 20 years I'm still waiting.

Drooling is just one of several reasons why I don't clench. The main one though is that clenching is a habit that would encourage me to have a lit pipe in my mouth for most of my waking hours. The only time I clench is when driving when I need both hands on the controls but only for a moment. It's why my cobs are my only pipes that have a rubber bit.

Yep I do, less so with a straight pipe.I wondered about this so I tried it with different pipes and with them not lit.Still happens. My Dentist has always commented about it,said they might need 2 spit suckers while doing a cleaning, lol. I keep trying though, maybe I need a pipers bib.

Almost a full page and nobody pointed out that he drools all the time anyway so no reason to not drool when clenching?
HEYO!
I do not drool when clenching but I do not consider myself a clencher. I only do it when my hands are busy with something as I smoke.

I don't clench, but imagine that saliva might be an issue if I did. If so, the apparatus below might solve the problem. (Who's old enough to remember this skit on SNL? )

For me, it's the opposite. If I do it for longer than a couple of minutes, it dries my mouth to the point it's uncomfortable. I prefer to clench only when "playing" with the smoke to control the temperature of the bowl, keeping it just right for my next puff. The pipe sits in my hand or on the table otherwise.
Then again, I like to smoke aromatics which bite even if you take it up juust a little notch, so...
