Hello fellow patchers,
I haven't posted since back in November{tho I do pop in now and again}so if I look new to some of you, well, that's on me I guess. anyway, yesterday was the last day of my nineteen years with Kroger ...I figured many of you would know how good I feel right now.
Before Kroger I spent twenty-one years with Safeway, after 4 years with a small "mom & pop" market, back in my teens.
Back in April, Kroger hosted a legacy dinner for us old-timers ,and as it was held in the conference center of The Hotel Roanoke, only a stone throw from Milan Tobacconists...a trip there was a must. It's been ten years or more since my last trip to Milan's ,and ,shortly after breakfast on our second day in Roanoke ,I found myself standing in front of rows and rows of pipes.
I settled on a Nording signature freehand and four new to me aromatics, as a retirement/birthday present to myself, and I gotta tell you ,it's a really good smoker, Milan tobacco seem to be top notch too.
Today, I spent the morning watching some youtube , then I picked some wild blackberries ,now I'm eyeballing last nights retirement gift from some friends...Crown Royal's Noble collection Canadian whisky, finished in French oak...
I've not tasted it, so your thoughts are welcome.
Herb.

PM me for shipping address, glad to give you my thoughts.
Congratulations on the retirement, I qualified for retirement three years ago, but I am still working...there is a certain amount of freedom that comes when I know I have my time in...I get along great with my supervisors, but I feel no reason to walk the politically correct line with tender hearted ween-flakes, fortunately there are only a few.

Congrats on your retirement! And a nice choice of pipe. My son gave me one of those for Christmas last year and it is a fine smoker.

Congratulations! I've got about 20 years left, but that's already sounding like a day to look forward too!
I love Nording's freehands as well. That sounds like a fine way to kick off this stage, and you've earned all the enjoyment that pipe will bring.

Congratulations. The only downside I have found in retirement is that I had to get old to do it. Enjoy--and find some hobbies to keep active.

Congratulations. The only downside I have found in retirement is that I had to get old to do it. Enjoy--and find some hobbies to keep active. Good advice, the worse thing you can do is have a sedentary life post employment, muscle loss and I believe cognitive degradation takes place if you are not engaged in life. I have seen too many examples of people that have gone downhill quickly when they have all that time on their hands.

Congrats on your retirement. Now the real fun chapter of your new life begins. You won't believe how busy you'll be doing nothing. Enjoy yourself and don't forget to wave to the poor suckers going off to work every morning. They'll appreciate the friendly send off and some may even use all of their fingers waving back at you.
