G'day everyone. In the past I'd keep little gold mines to myself for fear of being out bid (the lower Aussie $ really is a big disadvantage) but as I've got more than enough pipes I thought that I'd share a favourite who is honest & reliable. This seller had an ebay store but closed it for various reasons, mainly because he was sick of dealing with ebay & paying their fees. I've bought over 60 pipes from Markus & highly recommend him. After sales service was excellent. One pipe arrived damaged & he immediately refunded my money without any fuss or asking for proof. My word was enough [he told me to keep the pipe; the damage was easily repaired] He's set up a website that has just opened. Most of the pipes I'd bought were NOS from a German pipe shop that had been in business for over a hundred years. His website has quite a few of these antique pipes at rather reasonable prices. Some are no-brand Bruyere Garantie briars that are either of German or French manufacture that were commissioned for the shop. Every pipe that I've added to my rotation are good smokers. I can recommend the Skippy & Dobbelman briars in particular. They're not big pipes compared to modern ones & they're very light in weight. Many of the older pipes have horn stems. [Wish I knew how to upload pics. I've got some real beauties] [Clenchers need to keep in mind that horn, as a natural material, sometimes have a fissure in the grain that can crack if too much pressure is applied. As I don't clench I prefer the horn stems over plastic] There's freehand pipes & a good selection of clay pipes. He also sells stems, blanks, ferrules & other bits & pieces for pipe makers. There are some opening freebies & discounts on offer. [There's two Heibe 60's Billiards with horn stems for $24.99 for the pair. I'd pounce but already have several Heibe pipes from him. Good smokers for sure] There's Buy Now pipes & they'll be also running auctions. I've got no association with Markus other than as a loyal customer. [Haven't dealt with his business partner as yet but sure he's just as fair & efficient] Should you deal with Markus & his partner, please mention that Paul from Australia recommended his website. www.markenpipes.com

Your welcome Mike.
There's several pipes that I'm drooling over; a 20's Vauen Dr Perl smooth Bulldog with horn stem for $37.99 A 40's Dobbelman Lincoln 11F smooth hexagon Bulldog for $27.99 Bargain.
Wasn't a Patcher recently looking for a cheap Churchwarden? There's a 70'S UTOR Old Briar Reading Pipe Billiard at $22.99. I've got 3 UTOR Churchwardens & the two that I use are good smokers. They're much more elegant than my Savinelli Churchwarden.

Some good prices, many old pipes I have never heard of. Brand new antique pipes don't come onto the market that often I'd imagine. Also just noticed a UTOR briar for $9.99. There's some bargains to be had.

Thanks for posting elric .....definitely some excellent prices on pipes👌👍. I’d bet a member or three might purchase from this gentleman. PS What maker manufactures the Marken branded pipes? Thought you might know, thanks.

Thanks for sharing this. It'd good to know that there are good, honest people out there, selling good quality products with great customer service. When I first started building a rotation of pipes I had no clue where to start & made some bad buys, a couple of estate pipes in particular. Having a recommended pipe seller would have come in handy. Plus it's a cool find for those who'd like to add a brand new antique to their collection.

I just nabbed a very fine Civic for $35. Heck of a deal for an unsmoked pipe.

My MarKen order finally came in. Everything is exactly as expected. A new-old-stock CIVIC Canadian. About a group 2 size. (Group 3, if it were a Dunhill Canadian, since Canadian bowls tend to be smaller.) It's in pretty good shape. A little oxidation from sitting on a shelf for fifty plus years. I can't really date this thing. It has the "old" CIVIC stamping, so it's plainly older than the 1960s, but that's as good as I can get. It could easily be pre-WWII.

Nice follow up. Enjoy the N.O.S pipe. Does all CAPS signify an older Civic?

Nice follow up. Enjoy the N.O.S pipe. Does all CAPS signify an older Civic? It's always all-caps, but the older ones have a rather extravagant set of serifs, almost like a Tuscan font
Later ones have a smallcaps "CIVIC" written in a crisp sans-serif stamped into the stem.

Some really nice pipes. I'm having to resist the urge to pick up one of the M&K freehand offerings.

I've yet to buy a Canadian so had my eye on that Civic. Glad it's going to a good home. I've got an 80's Venini smooth 1/4 bent Apple & an 80's smooth Venini 1/2 bent billiard in the mail. Hoping they will arrive tomorrow. There's a remaining Venini same shape as the Apple but darker stain. $34.99 + $8 for p&h. [He combines postage] Nice shape that feels great in hand [I've bought 3 x 80's Venini's from when seller was on e-bay] but most importantly for me, nice thick chamber walls.

The Aussie dollar is not doing so well atm so with the poor exchange rate I couldn't justify the expense for one pipe. It doesn't seem that long ago when the Aussie $ was on equal pegging with the U.S.$.

Bad for folks who work in export-focused industry
