I always like the price of Daughters and Ryan tobaccos... even better with any discount offered. My first order from the U.S. was a pound of D&R Windsail, an uncased Virginia. On sale at the time, it was $20usd. The postage cost more, lol. It's nice straight & an excellent blending tobacco. Some people complain that D&R tobacco is 'too dry' (They haven't heard of Boveda packs?) Not me, I thought it was just right. In response to these complaints, one of the owners said that he sold tobacco, not water. Excellent attitude. Moist tobacco is an annoyance. I like their blends. I find they are just perfect after they dry out ever so slightly more.

P&C had a 15% off sale a couple months back. I got a pound of ODF for about $42. That is pretty fantastic in my book. Companies need to operate their business they arent obligated to have big sales. It definitely beats the prices at my local Tinderbox which was a 3.5oz tin for $30. The ODF wasn't on sale. That's been their regular price for it for a few months now.

Not sure. 15 years ago I helped operate the Smokers Haven website. Sales didn't seem to be that common back then. Seems all retail sales are cyclical. Usually a company runs a sale to generate capital maybe all the sites are doing well and don't need to run sales now. That would be a good thing if everyone was operating a profitable business.

I don't know there was a coupon code for 15% off "Sunnyday" or something like that, so it basically saved me on shipping and tax.

Unholey smokes! That is ridiculous. I got a free electronic happy 4th card in my email today from P&C telling me to head over and buy some cigars to smoke on the 4th...but wait...they don't have same day delivery! To an extent we have become spoiled with online purchases, expecting 20% and better sales every time we purchase some tobacco online. We are not privy to what they pay for in tobacco and overhead, and companies like Sutliff/MacBaren were pretty upfront with several notifications of price increases due to their costs for product increasing... and they told us "buy now before the price increases". We have plenty of websites in which to buy tobacco from, so as to compare prices...the prices are, what they are. It is frustrating to bite the bullet on a blend, make a purchase and see a discount code come out a few days later, but that is true in many things in life...if my foresight was as good as my hindsight, I would be pretty wealthy. The old tired Brian Levine songbook I sing from..."tobacco will never be cheaper nor more available than it is today" Elric and Paddy must look at us as a bunch of whiners... not pointing the finger at anyone else, I am prone to think the same way as expressed here.

Well, I remember when I was in a hurry to get a nice full cellar and made the mistake of buying a bunch of stuff everyone recommended and found that 50% of my cellar was crap I wouldn't smoke........no matter how long it aged. Be wise and buy what you know you like and will smoke anytime. Leave the experimenting with new blends after you feel you have enough cellared to last at least a few months. This seems like the best advice ever spoken. Agreed. Wise words

Darn, the title of this thread got my hopes up, Cramptholomew . The tobacco companies are making money hand over fist. Every time they get a stock of something in it sells out immediately. They have no incentive for a sale. I agree with Jitterbugdude. Seems like they usually have sales when business is down. My cellar is, if anything, a bit too broad and not deep enough in the blends I really like.

The economy is so great and everyone is employed that is able to work that retailers don't have to put anything on sale now......NOT
