Yesterday the wife told me that Albertson's had USDA Choice T-Bone steaks for $4 per pound, limit two packages thru July 4th...I was at work, told her to go ahead...two packages. Left of the T-Bone..where is the filet mignon? Second package better.... Still a great deal.

Second package much better, I would have searched through the lot. Not that I want to pick......men that KNOW how to cook would definitely look much closer at the meats before putting in their cart. Women look more closely at shoes and pocketbooks.......am I stereotyping.......lol.

"Technically," and sadly, those are still considered a t-bone.
A T bone is cut closer to the front end of the loin and has a smaller tenderloin side. A Porterhouse is cut from the other end and has the larger fillet.
It sucks, but I used to cut meat.
Side note: I am very selective with my meat.

When I was married I did all the cooking (the missus was useless in the kitchen) & bought all the food. One day at the green grocers she just grabbed fruit without inspection [most of the fruit was for her] Giving her a look, I took the bag from her, gently emptied the nectarines & started filling the bag after inspecting each piece of fruit first. She said 'You're not doing that just because I'm standing here, are you?' That earned her another look [no, not a good one] She was then barred from buying fruit from that day on. If a man wants a job done properly he must do it himself.

Where I do 95% of my food shopping, if your not satisfied with the meat you purchased and have your receipt you get “ double “ your money back. That’s their policy. Plus excellent customer service in general. If I ask the manager to carry a particular product he does his best to oblige 👌👍👍

I hauled meat and didn't cut it, but the butchers at the wholesale company I worked for really took care of me...there was a lot of meat always to the left of the bone....back to the narrative of being spoiled.

That’s a fact ^^^^^^^^^^ when someone like Charlie that has that passion in the kitchen, you know your going to get a great meal. If you “ don’t “ have that passion for cooking.......YOU DON’T BELONG IN THE KITCHEN!!! I know a few people that should be permanently banned from cooking......lmao.

My post was just an observation of what to look out for....Albertson's is pretty responsive to any gripes....first world problem on my part.

trailboss......I wouldn’t return what you purchased, at $4.00 a pound your still doing well with those steaks. I would have just looked through a few more packages to see if I could find a slightly better cut in the lot.

I often don't get excited about T-bone sales for that very reason it is a New Amsterdam strip with a bone. But hey any steak beats six dollar hamburger meat. Last week we went shopping and steak was cheaper than hamburger or at least hamburger I would purchase. So rejoice in your good fortune and bon Appetit and that kind of stuff.

Most places that cut in house will also grind meat for you free. When good cuts of meat are cheaper than ground meat, there's a solution. I prefer ribeyes

Haven't feasted on the dead flesh of my fellow creatures for over 25 years now [Long story that] but am gobsmacked when I see the price of meat these days. Rural Australia has been under drought for several years now & stock numbers are down, affecting prices.
Growing up on lamb it was my meat of choice, so I was shocked to see my favourite cut, prime cutlets, was $48kg at the butchers recently.
Have no clue as to the price of meat in the U.S. but t-bone steak at $4lb sounds like a bargain. Enjoy.

I just finished a 24oz sirloin strip. 2 hours in the vacuum marinade, 90 minutes sous vide at 133 degrees and finished in a smoking cast iron skillet with butter, salt, and pepper 2 minutes per side. Melted in my mouth. Kroger had them in the used meat section for $7.80 each, marked down from $20.

Ok you can buy those eye shoulder chuck cap roasts and I will buy the ribeye's with the bone on em that way I know they came from a rib the part of the cow that just does nothing so the meat is tender.

Sure is very tempting. This morning when I stopped to pick up a few items at Lowe’s Foods, 93% fat free chop meat was $5.90 a pound. I would have jumped on those T-bone steaks at $4.00 a pound.....a steal of a deal👌👍👍

Used to buy t-bones, before I bought porterhouses so wife could get fillet & me the strip. Then I got tired of healthy & been buying rib-eyes since. Prefer bone in, closer to the bone, the sweeter the meat.
