As much as I love my firearms, I still view them as a commodity. I had a pretty good horse wreck a few weeks ago that did a number on my working saddle. I got 'er patched back together, but she aint what she was. So Im gonna have to get another. And real saddles aint cheap.
Sometimes a man has to weigh priorties of life and make tough decisions. Its looking like Im gonna need to move on the custom BFR .44mag.
In light of our current societal woes, the Springfield TRP Operator, the AR and the Winchester 1886 aint going anywhere.
But a .44mag is a luxury. This one is a beautiful luxury, no question, but a luxery none the less.
So I guess I'll make a trip to my local gun store this week and put it on consignment. The saddle helps make my livin'. The revolver does not. 😢

Had to sell all of my Colts 44 years ago including 2 GCNMs. Later I had to sell My Contender with the custom stocks and grips and 5 barrels. After our son was born I had to sell my S&W target pistols, a Model 41 and a Model 52 38 Master. I have more guns now than I ever had before. I needed real life stuff. You need a saddle. A man's got to do what a man has to do. You need a saddle and you don't need a fancy 44. I am just learning not to be proud of possessions.

So far Ive managed to dodge the bullet (see what I just did there? and have held on to the BFR .44mag. I shot it before taking it down to sell, and then couldnt bring myself to sell it. 😁

My first carry piece was a lightweight J frame snub nose that my dad gave me. It kicked like a mule and literally made you bleed after less than ten rounds. Only revolver I have now is my grandfather's old service S&W that the sheriff's department gave him.

The only gun that I have ever sold was a Taurus Millenium pro that I lost confidence in. I never sold off any others, because I read too many stories of regret. But then again, I haven’t been in a place where my hand was forced, Ron’s advice is sage advice.
Talk show host Bruce Williams had good advice “ Never fall in love with something that cannot love you back, that will inform you on making wise choices”
Good advice then, good advice now.

You don't regret it if you sell them right. I've bought, sold, and traded my way into a collection I never could have afforded otherwise.

Winchester M1 for $125, Gold Cups for $200, M52 $350,M41 $200,etc.

I quit selling a few years ago. Now I just buy. I don't get as many, but I want what I have. The only requirement, according to my wife, is that I'm limited to what I can cram into the gun safe. Fortunately, pistols are small...LOL.

Just got my CCL. Here's my daily carry. I did the gold color fill with 24k paint. Upgraded with the Magguts that get me from 8 in the mag to 10 + 1. I also LOVE my holster. It's a 1791 Ultra custom. It has a layer of carbon fiber between the leather that forms when it gets hot. You put it in a sous vide @ 175 for 10 min and it will form fit to your weapon.

Recoil to me is like the 9. Had the 9 & now only the 45. (Hopefully you are happy with only the 9, just like you are happy with your only favorite pipe) Holster might?? fit the 45. Looks great, congrats.

I am trying to keep my Ammo selection to a minimum. I certainly can see an addition of another 45 down the line considering I already have the ammo.

Put a new rear sight on the BFR, a One Ragged Hole peep sight for hunting. Took it out and put a few rounds through it. It is phenomenal.
Gotta take it to the smith tomorrow and get the front sight shortened by about a third.
Im not a great handgun shooter, but my goal is 4" patterns at 75 yards, then start harvesting game with it. The peep sight helps my tired old eyes more than I would have believed possible.
The pistol had a scope on it at one time, which I still posess, but I dont like carrying or shooting a scoped revolver very much.
