It was today o-clock when I learned they make a .30 Carbine pistol. Like I said before, you will never know all the guns or all the planes Patty Hearst's gun of choice: www.guns.com/news/2012/11/17/th-iver-johnson-enforcer-an-m1-carbine-pistolA buddy told me that he had seen an M1A1 folding stock Paratrooper carbine at the local store in excellent condition with extras and provenance...$650.00....I beat a path to the store, and missed it by 5 minutes. Man, I was bummed...timing is everything. I sold my all matching Winchester M1 for $125. Back then no one was offering more.

The guns wouldn't put food on the table or gas in the rank without being seriously misused. At least I didn't lose money on the deal. The carbine was the nice and. The Garand was an arsenal grab bag gun. It needed new springs at least. The guy bought a for a wallhanger.

I have to say I'm delighted a thread titled Revolvers has gone on for nine pages now, with some side trails into other interesting firearms. If we were all in a room with some tasty beers and various pipes, I think this is what would happen.
Do you guys see a relationship between pipe smoking and revolvers specifically? The .44 Special has been getting more love than I expected, this was also delightful to me. When I turned forty, I suddenly realized I'd always been a gun guy and never owned one! It was time to start my collection! I knew I wanted a .38 Special revolver, but didn't know why, and I knew I'd know the one when I picked it up (the one was a pre-Taurus Rossi M88 snubbie - it fit my hand). There just seems to be some old school connection between pipes and revolvers, kind of a heart thing.
I read the other day about an elite French hostage rescue unit that still used revolvers. When a reporter asked one if he was concerned about the lower capacity, he was shut down by the perfect answer: 'We don't miss'.

Oops, went to click edit and accidently Liked my own post. For shame simnettpratt, for shame Here's a stock pic of the Rossi that fit my hand: The French Manurin revolver is widely considered the very best revolver ever made. They are about the same price as the higher end S&Ws. As for the 44 Special, "Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton". Edit to add info on the French Manurhin M73: Description The Manurhin MR73 is a French made, double-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum. It was standard issue with France's Gendarmerie and police units including Special Weapons and Tactics Teams (RAID, GIGN and others). The MR73 is a precision made, match grade accurate pistol that when shipped new was required to produce groupings of no more than 20mm (0.8 inch) diameter when fired from 25 meters. They are also tough as nails... well even tougher really. The frame, cylinder, and barrel of the MR73 are made from ordnance-certified, alloyed steel. Barrels are manufactured by cold-hammering and the rifling is formed during the forging process. This creates an extremely hard and glass-smooth internal barrel surface. The MR73 has a unique adjustable trigger in both the single-action and double-action modes utilizing adjustment screws and a roller bearing trigger mechanism. That's an incredible feature we have not seen in any other revolver. We're offering these pistols in the 3" and 4" barrel configurations. We do not expect them to last long. Get this unique firearm and piece of history while you can.

Just a thought. We all enjoy our fire arms. In peace, but we don't exist in a vacuum. I am broken hearted over the events of the past few days. We have to find a way to stop these nut cases and evil people sooner rather than later. Besides the waste of life, it is going to cost us our lifestyle and for some of us a very personal part of our souls. That is all. As you were.

I feel for the bereaved, not starting anything, but taking mine ain’t gonna stop it, mental health is being ignored in this country. Insurance companies don’t want to pay up, finally I’m so so sad about normal people can’t go about their everyday chores fearing, kind of makes my jungle trek for naught.

That right there is the whole of the problem.

The problem could be greatly improved by returning to the values of the Founding fathers and the Constitution as originally intended. This includes the firearms which Americans may keep. Nothing more modern than as available in 1787, the year the Constitution was written.
Private citizens can have concealed carry. It will have one shot, maybe two. Watch that pan, so the primer charge does not slip out!
Rifles are available. Single shot and flintlock ignited. Powder horn, patched ball.
Law enforcement will continue with their modern arms as will the military. Feel like a mass shooting, bub? You can take Old Betsy down to the mall and see how long you last.
Anyway, that is one solution.

I don't like that solution. I really don't like it a LOT!

All the deer hunters I've ever talked to ..A lot of them..told me that they only got one shot at a deer..I believe that I have a right to own guns..I do own guns..If I have to I will use them..I've just haven't felt the need for a 30 round assault rifle.

I have mentioned this idea several times on various forums over several years. The anger with which some have replied along with the threats of death and bodily harm only serves to underscore how serious this problem is and just how many deranged and angry people there are out there who are in possession of serious firepower. I am not suggesting anyone here is in that group.
My proposal, which has an element of reason to it, is, clearly, a mock argument. For anyone to go beyond a chuckle or discuss what shooting might be like in a work of Black Powder and patched balls, and become enraged and threaten others tells me we have a real mental health problem here. My purpose is to to demonstrate just how emotional and disturbed some people are out there in the world of gun ownership. I am asking all of you here to take a moment and think about the world around you and some of these people who own guns. We have a problem and we need to fix it. This is not the forum in which to do that but many of us have other venues to participate in and suggest what can be done.

Drop this line now or my revolver thread will get locked. I guarantee it. I won't be expanding on any RTKBA views here either way.

I've long wanted this 8-shot scandium and titanium 2" Performance Center .357. The barrel is actually 2", it looks shorter because it's shoved back into the frame. Not sure how much practice you'd want with full power .357s and that wooden grip, but what a great carry piece for a revolver guy. The major downside is it's $1,129 at Buds. I'll have to settle for my $300 Taurus 7-shot with it's custom grips.

The points have been made. I am sure we all could have a good discussion about it elsewhere, in a very civilized fashion. Of that I have no doubt. I have pretty strong views on the subject, myself and I am sure many of us do in a whole range of the spectrum. I have been enjoying this thread too much to risk it getting locked. Thoroughly enjoying seeing what you guys have, want or used to have.
