Great article! Fun to read. Especially about the tobacco that's best to smoke.

Great article, thanks for posting. Tobacco that’s best to smoke is subjective, you would think.

Fun article. Am I the only one who heard the nasal voice of one of those old time news men reading this in their mind? Haha Like those news films about the war people had to go to theatres to view. Also, I'm going on a crusade to revitalize the term 'duffer'

I liked how it supported a point I made in the past, that even cigarette smokers had or would have a pipe in their future. In those days, through the 50's, pipes & stands were a common gift, even if the recipient didn't smoke a pipe at the time. It was just something many felt a man would evolve into.

What struck me was what he said about smokers at the time, it wasn’t unusual for cigarette smokers to have a dozen pipes. In the 60’s, the pipe smokers I knew seemed to have one or two. It makes sense though, back in that era, the sheer number and volume of tobacco factories in the UK and Denmark was pretty huge. Mike McNeil in his 4 part interview spoke about the size of the tobacco companies that were tge big players when he got in the business, they moved a lot of tobacco.
