I’ve had a few cobs and it’s time to get a few more. My battery went dead and what I had posted. I haven’t heard of aristocobs and I think I’ll get a kit so I can carve away hardwood draft hole insert and use pipe mud.I think I’ll try some aristocob pipe mud also. I’d like to make a R or regular calabash but I’m just going to get a few cob kits until I watch or read a bit more on making cob pipes from kits or scratch.Id like to use bamboo but I’ll stick with MM hardwood shanks until my skills improve. What types of glues work for shank into bowl?

I forgot to post that there’s 10% off July 19th and 20th. I didn’t know about aristocob until I joined the forum. I haven’t ordered from them yet but they seem really centered on customers. If you want a more red,white,yellow,etc... cob just ask and they will hand pick your cob. I’m going to get a few kits and some pipe mud. I’m going to get in on the next cob foolery event. My local pipe shop used to have meerschaum coloring contests, cube smoking,etc... Sure do miss those times.Internet has its pros and cons.

I’m very tempted to get the wizard from the cobbit series. It has vulcanite stem which makes it harder to pass up but I have a churchwarden and I have only smoked it 5-6 times.

Scott is a gem of a guy and I don't even know him. I've watched a load of his videos though and he appears to be a true gentleman.
As for what glue holds the shank in the bowl... Elmers glue is what missouri meerschaum uses, I think. If not, it's certainly recommended for your use.
If you get a kit make sure you show us your photos.

To hold in the shank I use titebond 2, it is a wood glue I also use this when I insert a plug in the bottom.
Something to keep in mind,Scott at Aristocob is a busy man it may take a few days for him to answer an email. Also this is a small family business. They can be found on IG and FB and YouTube.

I haven’t started on the kits yet but have removed hardwood from Pony Express cob and used aristocob pipe mud to get draft hole on bottom of bowl. I’d like to make a calabash or a cavalier calabash hybrid of sorts. I’ve never tried a calabash pipe or R calabash.
