I'm very happy for you. You're pumping some nice fresh blood into the veins of a fine older home. It's going to be a fine place to relax and enjoy some good tobacco.

Latest update: We were only going to replace the drop-in ceiling tiles that were stained or damaged, so I picked up three boxes of tiles. Yesterday I put some of those tiles in place and it was obvious our plan wasn't going to work very well; the difference with the old tiles was stark. So I made a rush 100 mile round trip to our "local" Home Depot and picked up six more boxes of tiles. I put a box or two in place last night and finished up the project moments ago. We will change out the tiles with the light fixtures when we decide on lights. I'll do the H/AC Vent tiles tomorrow eve. Changing out those 55 year old fiberglass tiles is a nasty job! Glad it is complete. Tomorrow starts the window change out; the new floor is scheduled for the 10th - 12th. It is coming together. New Ceiling.

More progress. The new floor started going in yesterday. Last evening I had to move most of the stuff being stored in the bedroom out into the main room (with the new floor) so the pool table guy could get to the table parts. He started reassembling the table late this morning while the floor guy finished the big room & bathroom. I hung the new light for the pool table right before the table moved into position. The pool table is now in place and re-covered with new felt. It looks great, like new. But, I have to lower the light over the table six inches so it doesn’t shine in my wife’s eyes when she shoots. I thought I might gain some advantage, but no luck! The fixture is held up by solid rods, so it is a bigger deal than just adjusting a chain. Tomorrow evening, after the floor guy gets finished, we have to move everything back from the walls so the carpenter can start hanging trim around the walls. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Pictures in a few days.

A funny note: when the floor guy moved into the bedroom, he started laying flooring in the closets where my pipes and tobacco are temporarily stored ( see pic above). He was amazed at the extent of the accumulation and he had quite the discussion with my with as to the state of my accumulation disorder! When I got home from work we talked some more about it. I think he believes me to be a little off beam; he is probably right! Note that he is not a pipe smoker.

You hang out here, so he is spot on. A man's home is truly his castle... Nice seeing the progress, a man working on his castle in America, is a grand sight.

Progress Report: New floor is finished. Moved all the stuff one more time last night to make room for the carpenters to install base trim; they are here working this morning. There is a good chance they will get finished by late afternoon. Then I have to lower the pool table light, move stuff to the approximate final location, unpack a bunch of boxes (do another sort of what to keep and what to pitch), put one small and one large piece of furniture together, move a sofa (hide-a-bed=heavy) back downstairs, etc, etc. Hopefully, the project will be nearly complete by the end of next week! I'll post a few pics in a day or so.

Progress report: The carpenters finished their work today. The primary carpenter, Alfonso, is a real wizard and gets more done in a day than any three people I know. I forgot my wife had another piece of put-together furniture coming. A storage cabinet arrived today; the box was heavy and required my dolly to get it downstairs. Finally got it all put together this evening. It looks decent but the quality is suspect; you get what you pay for. The two pieces on the schedule tomorrow are of a higher quality and should consume most of my day. It is coming together.

Progress report: I spent my available hours this weekend assembling three pieces of furniture, an 80" tall storage cabinet, a printer stand/cabinet, and a very large (96"W x 80"H x 18"D) book case with barn doors. pics of the book case below. Room to grow and the stash is hidden from view. More pics later.

Kelly, I see we're brothers from another mother, as it pertains to our repurposing of computer centers (in my case an entertainment center) for our TAD / PAD. Really enjoyin the thread.

The other two pieces. My apologies for my desktop, two Watch City shipments and 100 Mylar bags that need attention.

Really loving the "book" case. Very good choice! My wife thought it a good choice as it keeps the cellar hidden behind the barn doors; I can’t disagree! Room to grow.

More pics in a few days. Right now it’s in disaster mode as we started unpacking all the boxes of books and random desk stuff, etc. I can already tell I’m going to have to thin down some more stuff, but in the long run that’s OK. As for the cellar, my wife looked at the stash when I got it all moved and said, “you don’t need any more tobacco.” I wonder what she would say if she realized I have nearly six pounds on my desk awaiting permanent storage!

Progress report: we are getting closer to finished. I got the new lights installed and the pool table light lowered. One more light to go. New hvac vents installed. Couch moved back downstairs. My pipe cabinet came in today, but I’m away from home for a few days and haven’t seen it yet. We will have to figure out the location along with other stuff that goes on the walls. Pics to come, I promise.

Progress Report: The pipe cabinet is attached to the wall. The last light is installed. Still some clutter to deal with, pictures to be hung, my wife’s birthday cabinet to be hung, and a small pub table with bar stools to be ordered and assembled. But we are getting close. Here is the pipe cabinet. It was my last year’s Christmas present from my wife. Glad it was ordered, built, and installed before this Christmas!

kxg - I like that cabinet. Simple, straight, clean lines. Kinda shaker style. It's classy and understated.
