Okay gang, I used to love LFD cigars, La Flor Dominica and recently I reached for one at the tobacco/beer shop ang pulled my hand back when the price was over $9. I know i am wishing for the cigar prices of yesteryear and that wont happen, that said.. are LFD cigars still a quality smoke and should i splurge or do i just keep trying my luck buying the INTRO grab bags and hoping for the best? a few months ago Payless cigars had a deal a 5 pack sample for $9.99 of Casa Fernandez with any purchase..and that was one heck of a deal!! my new favorite cigar is Guardian of The Farm but alas I will never be able to buy those on a large scale..
okay very disorganized.. time to regroup.... what makers of cigars have passed the test of time and are still selling a good product and which ones have have not?

It seems to me that every thing tobacco related is going up like 4th of July fireworks..I smoked expensive cigars some 20 years ago but I was working back then I get sticker shock when I see their prices now..They don't fit into my budget now that I'm retired.

Sadly, I've experienced the same as you. Decent cigars are simply going to cost you. If you're looking for something to smoke while working in the garage or taking walk, any grab bag will do. Cheap cigars are all the same to me. I haven't found a good one. However, I do think a better mid range cigar is the Punch. You can get them for 3-4 dollars for their non special range.

As far as standing the test of time, the makers that had to flee Cuba in 1959 took Cuban seed with them and are still making great smokes today. Names like Fuente, Torano, Partagas, Padron, etc..

For me, Padron Anniversario series, stand 2nd to none... not inexpensive but well worth the coin.

When I had kids and went from buying good wine by the case and buying cheap wine by the box, I did the same with cigars. I found that the JR Cigars knock offs were pretty tasty and somewhat comparable for a fraction of the cost
YMMV

Screw that. My brother in law buys Montecristo, Cohiba, and other Cuban cigars by the box and splits them up among several cousins. They come out at around USD 4-7 per corona. Personally I'm happy at the price with Vega Fina, Villager and Te Amo but in all honesty the best deal is had by an uncle of mine who custom orders about a dozen boxes a year and has them adhere to his preferred recipe. He pays around USD 1.50 per corona. Mexico is pretty nice for cigar smokers.

Te Amo has a long, rich history as well and made some nice Puros back in the day. "Screw that" though? Really??

Yep, everything is more expensive than back then except the minimum wage 😂. My first box of Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 was about $40. I dont even want to know what it is now!

Casa Fernandez makes some great smoke under their name and for other smaller labels. They just put out a new JFR Connecticut that is very tasty. Guardian of the Farm and the Apollo is one of my favs. If you like those you might want too checkout these manufactures as well:
