A little non religious & non political thread to share your reflections on the day of rest, with the chiefs blessing. A blessed day of rest to all & have a nice working week, grey wet & cold at times here, but not frosty & no snow yet, puffing on my MM freehand corncob with some great old Cap'n Black Gold with a few slivers of new great War Horse Green, I can imagine it to be a Kentucky horse grass green meadow mix, no hint of the ocean or seas, a hill or plainsman's mix , betwixt the woods of pine, my first quality American tobacco box that came last week. I have a mix of spring waters on the table. A muted Sunday supplement lifestyle tv programme on the glass box, in tourist spots of the Club med world for travellers to live their dreams. My sister brought a Sunday dinner & I have lunted my dog Pop, a quiet day. G'bless.

Been working in the yard all weekend cutting away loads of overgrowth and undergrowth - tree level and grass level. Back to the salt mines tomorrow after a two-week time off from the job... looking forward to retirement in a few short years... rest a while and then maybe bag groceries or cut grass - something simple on my own schedule on my own terms... no boss to keep trying to show me who's boss. Now for a tall cold root beer, a bowl of Savinelli 140th Anniversary, and some mindless boob tube nonsense. Maybe read a short Sci-fi story before beddiebye.

7 inches of snow on the ground.Too cold to get out of the house. It's going down to about 9 degrees tonight. That's super cold for here in Carolina.Been watching a bit of TV.Playing some games on the computer.Working a few cross words.None of it seems to be working very well.I'm still bored. It's time to go smoke my pipe and watch a bit of football.

25 degs this morning , put on my Muck boots , let my dog out, make sure she doesn't piss on my paper , live on a farm so it's a nice walk to get it. Light up some Nitecap, pour some good hot black coffee, sit in my old caned rocking chair that my Grandpaw rocked me as a baby. Got the pair , I treasure those. Running water all night, Old Acadian home is high 4 ft on piers, rather pay the water bill than have a busted pipe. Sunday is my S Bang day, got 5 and that's what I smoke on Sunday's. I am a lucky fellow , good wife, kids, Buds on pipe forum, couldn't ask for better.

Made a new furry friend during Sunday's yard work... Funny looking little guy. We have native red, grey and fox squirrels. This one looks like a cross between all of them. The reds and greys have smaller tails. This one looks like one of them with a tail more like a fox squirrel which is much larger. Super cool pic.

Hi, the red squirrels were being driven out over here, by the grey squirrels, but are reviving , the park is overrun with greys, with nearby country nature conservation zone with red squirrels, but I am have seen those red tinged greys in my local city parks. But to digress we have a flock of green parakeets surviving in the local park, not a native species at all, which is of interest to the "safari" clad bird "twitters" (sic) , see Y'All.

PS. Excuse the grammar mistakes, I need to switch the auto correct off , on the "Korean English" speaking Samsung tablet, it often deceives me & there is " time out " on post editing on this forum.

Good Sunday folks , got off to a late start this day of restš“, snacked on cold breakfast in bed, some fine pork & beef jerky, not the full English breakfast Mum made š, but gave the pets some treats & lunted my pal Pop, with the one of the best orientals ever RL Orcillo in my 2016 Xmas special Rhodesian, š¤ , took some "Time To Pray" š , looking for a "Good Book " to read with PMC. Browsed my online Newspaper, you have to keep up with the "Times" , it is not Maigret ( or Mayday ) chums,š . Spoke to my dear sister on the telephone, Pop is snoozing "demon" cars are whooshing past, roll on electric cars & my Twizzy batmobile, š»š¹š½. It is cold with a dark sky , but it is not raining, yet, š, as Mr. Holmes said, "Better a quiet smoke at home good doctor , than chasing phantoms š in the smoke or demons š in the ashes" , have a nice day ladies & gentleman & a nice family dinner...Goodbye for now folks. šāš

so, the billeting on base is like motel rooms. we went out for dinner last night but had been told to expect freezing rain overnight and today so we stopped by the store and picked up instant and microwavable foods so we could "cook" and eat in the room today, and it doesn't look like the ice is coming. but for breakfast i'm having decaf coffee and instant peaches and cream oatmeal.

...a very pleasant 70 in SE Tennessee today...few clouds and good weather for windows and doors to be open. Sitting on the back porch, watching my 5 dogs, assigning some mid-winter yard work to my 3 youngest sons(16,16, & 15), and finishing the debate on why they can't play Xbox all day...think that about covers it!

G'Sunday morning folks, I lunted Pop with more Cap'n Black gold, Buffalo cow milk from heaven , in my MM maple country gentleman. A frosty morning with a pale blue Northern sky, some red amberfiery clouds dying in the South West, was it the Apocalypse , Armaggedon or Ragnarook ? NO , just the dying sunrise. Shook off the black dog blues, & having some hot Vimto juice & Kings pork & beef jerky before porage, Pop fed & talking heads on the TV BBC news (muted with subtitles) & BBC Radio four news on my Pure DAB/Internet Radio, the best commercial radio I have had , as a Radio ham for most of my life. About to fill a bowl of one of my clay pipes with some Clan .Be seeing you , enjoy your day of rest if you can...

Good Sunday, virtual friends & all, a slow cloudy day, making merry muzak. I had some fine tobacco to commune with the spirit. More US traditional hymns on internet radio, no book work today, leave that to the pro's. Chiming two O'clock, I hope our little fellowship is not dispersing , maybe things will brighten up this spring, a bad week for me, but I cannot complain. My bull mastiff rescue dog Pop is about 10 years old this year, he is dozing , always a busy bee, on his bed, he prefers to stay at home these senior years, but he has mellowed a lot, he is not bothered about my tobacco but hates vehicles. The news seems to be in the hands of professional comedians these years, like the church. Love you & leave you for now. ps. sunset over the park lake & a Queen at the Pierhead.

Hi All enjoy your day of rest, it has been chilly this week slight frost once or twice in the morning, about 5 or 6 Centigrade, by day with some warm sunshine indicating Spring. Had a few bowls of fine backy in briar , Meerschaum & clay pipes today. Walked Pop early & lunted him after lunchtime, it stayed dry but overcast today, no snow this year so far, but a few traces of flurries of snow from the Peak district passing by. In my youth it was deep snow & frozen park lakes regularly , great fun. Enjoying Sunday dinner with Jean my Sister & family, Mrs Doubtfire on TV , I like Robin Williams a true star. Be seeing you around or in heaven folks.

73 degrees here today with a slight cool breeze. Optimum weather for smoking a bowl or three in the backyard while looking over the yard work that can go another week without my care.

Good Sunday folks, back again, got off to a late start this day of rest, messing around. Lunted Pop with a Kong Liverpool-like hardwood pipe with a Captain Black gold & 2016 Tom mix, mild bright day that clouded over with a light shower. I have been puffing like Tommy the tank engine this week ( but I am not in Jim's league š ).Made some bait a special brew, I will dig up earthworms, for a return to coarse fishing at the local park lake, I like to fish for Small Roach & Perch, but the Lake was drained by the bad council & not restocked with fish officially, you need a national common angling licence & a council permit with rules & regulations , but they have not banned pipe smoking in the parks yet!!! I am going to go sea fishing in the River Mersey for the first time I am after Cod or flatfish , you can still smoke by the River, so far !!!
Listened to BBC Radio Four on my Pure DAB Internet radio, & heard Church services online. Had lunch & it is late afternoon, some Bible reading. I hope you all have had a good weekend & have an easy working week. Going to my sisterās family for evening meal & I will see my lovely Nieceās. & their puppy Rosie, Goodbye for now. š

Good Sunday, Day of rest, virtual friends & all, the fecundity of rain this Lenten holy morning, listening to US Hymns & Favourites on internet radio, the wonders of science & technology, science a good servant but a bad master, why should the devil have all the good music ? My study Bible at my side, Pop resting, puffing on fine Buffalo herb milk, for my American brothers. Some water on the table with a few drops of holy water for luck, holding onto some Bethlehem Olivewood crosses & beads for luck. I went angling yesterday, but Saturday is a bad day for fishing I learnt. I got some shut eye last night in my pit, dark dreams. I will watch a Church service online, goodness willing. Be seeing Y'All, in heaven folks.

My Sunday pipe day should have started with a Dagner Cob on the grounds of our local open air bath. During the cold season it is closed but we are allowed to let our sighthounds have a little run on their lawn. This is quite good because it is fenced in and there is no danger of our dogs running into cars and such. While I was starting to light my Dagner a bit of a commotion started: A cat was also on the grounds and of course the five sighthounds (one Irish Greyhound - ex-racer- and four Spanish Galgos - ex hunters) spotted the cat in no time and set off. The cat tried to run up a tree but in itĀ“s panic lost grip and fell to the ground. Our Greyhound shot forward and got the cat in his fangs immediately. I tried to separate them but he was in such a frenzy that he didnĀ“t even heard me. I had no gloves on and was afraid the cat might bite me which is quite dangerous infection-wise. In the end I had to push my hand into the jaws of our dog and finally he let go. It was too late though. There was a lot of blood as he was badly scratched in the face and we were shocked that the cat was dead. I donĀ“t blame our Greyhound as this is what they are bread and raised for but I really felt for the cat (we had cats too). You can imagine that my pipe wasnĀ“t burning too well after that and I am still shaken. We have seen better Sundays indeed.....

Hope you all had a good Sunday, I enjoyed a quiet day at home, anything for the quiet life chaps. I have acquired a taste for lunting lit or unlit, with dog or without, with my Falcon pipes, my four stems & variety of bowls, I have a black leather pouch with my standard homebrew mix on my outgoings, walking stick in hand. My sister sent a roast dinner around to my mancave, with a Guinness, & my senior dog Pop's company. Watched a Hollywood movie this evening on the phone, with an enjoyable pipe , a bloodthirsty fantasy epic, about the Transylvanian chess defence from the BAT cave, a Dracula movie, in Illyria. I am now enjoying a Bryn Terfel album , The Vagabond, on repeat, springtime coming lambs a'leaping... I will make a Tom mix from my blends in my favourite pipe , my 2016 Xmas custom fair Rhodesian pipe, a gift off my sister. I passerby I chatted to gifted me with a bottle of Martell Brandy, I gifted him with a ZuluF olive wood Bethlehem cross, & I will give him a Bible in appreciation, so I will crack open the bottle for a nightcap, & toast his Gran's health he visits. Thinking of going angling again tomorrow, & see if I can catch a roach or perch for sport , to be gently placed back for further sport of course, with a ready Falcon pipe & black pouch, I may take Pop like the old days of our long walks. Most of the lads do not abide by the council park lake common angling code, but I am working on it . My two favourite Welsh singers are dark Bryn Terfel & fair Elin Thomas, for tonight. I have some brass & aluminium hoping to customise some of my pipes & stuff, work in progress, I have a few ideas to try. Happy peaceful piping folks.
