So, first off, for all of you deviants out there, this is not what you think!
As many of you know, I travel pretty much every week for business.
This week was no different. I flew into Chicago at the beginning of the week and got home last night (this morning) @ around 1am.
Today I had a monthly meeting, video conference, that lasted several hours (I was up in my home office / mancave) and finished with things mid afternoon.
By 4pm I had finished my to-do's and decided to head over to the club and get a twilight round in.
As luck (misfortune) would have it, we've had the Annual Kids Golf World Championship going on for the last week... Meaning that we've got somewhere around 2,000 kids (and their family's) in town, and the available courses to play have been limited. (our club has 9 golf courses)
So, today my bud and I tee'd em up on Pinehurst #3. If you've played it you know that it is a tight course that is relatively short and is a par 68.
The nice thing was that there were no kids on this course today.
On the first hole I hit a great drive, had an 80 yard chip to the green, which I made, but my ball rolled off the back of the green and I ended up with a bogey.
The second wasn't much better, I bogied it as well.
The third hole was a short par 4 and I finally was on in regulation and saved par... Only 2 over after three holes. :-(
The fourth hole is a par 3, I was on in one and 2 putted... Still 2 over.
The fifth hole, a par 4 dogleg right, on in 2, 3 put bogie... 3 ove4 ;-(
The sixth hole, a par 3... Par
The seventh hole... this is where it turned around. The seventh hole is only 290 yards or so, blind tee over a hill. My drive was fair and left me 50 yards from the center of the green... An easy lob wedge and it one hopped into the cup! Eagle Baby!!!!
Eighth hole, par 3, Birdie!!!
Even Par!
I won't bore you with the next 9 holes, but suffice it to say that I was having a great round.
I managed another couple of birdies, and bogies, over the back nine.
It all came down to the 18th. All I needed to do was bogie it to shoot even par!
You guessed it, I doubled the 18th! A hole that I've birdied more times than I can count!
So, in the end, I finished up with a 69, 1 over.
My previous best on this course was 70.
So, all in all, not a bad afternoon.
Oh, yeah, I smoked 5 or 6 Oliva's and Curly Heads during the round. ;-)
