I ordered a couple ounces of this and just got a chance to try it. I cant seem to taste anything. It smells good but i just domt taste anything. Didnt seem to have much nicotine either. Will this get better with age or is it just not for me maybe?

As an aromatic it will not get better with age. Proper storage will help maintain what it is.
If you cannot taste it, try it other pipes. From design to material, all can be a factor. You also might be puffing too hard. This blend can easily be affected by one's cadence.
You also might not be able to taste it. While it's tin note is strong, it's tasting notes are lighter. Some blends arent for everyone.

I've tried soooo many aro's and they all fall flat for me. You could be in the same camp. They all contain humectants and artificial flavors and most of them aren't going to use top-shelf tobacco for this process either. There are still hundreds of choices without them though.
Which blends have you really enjoyed so far?

Sometimes a blend will really sing for you, and the next time it will fall flat. There is also a learning curve on how to slowly smoke a pipe.

Its one of the very few aromatics that I smoke. When I want more nicotine, I add some Dark Plug to it.
With all tobacco, taste varies from person to person.

Anyone know why we have two (2) threads about this same tobacco? It is good, but not worth 2 threads saying the same thing.

The user might not have wanted to post in the "Blend of the Month" thread as we tend to post more thoughts/reviews for said blend. Here they are asking about their issue/concern with the blend hoping to find a way to truly enjoy it.
As they are new they also might not have known about this being the current BoM either.

Ah, thanks, Scott...makes perfect sense which is probably why I didn't get it.

You get that after you've figured out good packing, lighting, and cadence. You should first fine tune your tastebuds with fuller flavored blends such as English or Burley. From there you can learn to taste differences in the smoke and work towards more subtle blends.

Blackberry Brandy just happens to be the Blend of the Month. Your post was appropriate for its own thread. The BOM reviews can stay on the the BOM thread.

If you have some Dark Plug or something very similar, try sifting in a bit (70/30) and see if that helps define the flavor.

SPC Plum Pudding is very popular for a reason. It's good. I really liked the MB 7Seas Royal Blend also except that it scorched my mouth. One small bowl a day was fine.

Never paid any attention to it but it did take three decades for me to be able to enjoy aromatics. Then again, nearly all tobacco is cased and Latakia is artificially flavored Oriental tobacco.

I'm surprised that no-ones mentioned Firedance. It's got a blackberry topping that I suspect that one either loves or hates. I'm not a fan but since it's in a rectangular tin [for whatever reason, once opened square and rectangular shaped tins lose moisture, and in the case of Firedance, the topping dissipated over time] it's lost it's rather strong flavouring and is now more to my liking. When freshly opened the blackberry topping was rather obvious when smoked.

Personally, I believe mild to moderate English or Burley blends are good places for new smokers to start the hobby. One blend that I have written of before, that might get things going for you, is John Bull Royal English. A blend I still enjoy and at a good price point. www.pipesandcigars.com/mobile/p/john-bull-pipe-tobacco/1470500/PS I would not confuse the casing, often sugar water, used to prepare a tobacco for smoking with the second treatments found in aromatics. One should also be careful in how one characterizes Latakia, Perique or Cavendish. There are differences between the processes involved and their use and what is generally understood as an "aromatic".

The first English I ever smoked (years ago, before I actually really got into pipes) was Altadis (now Sutliff) Heavy English. That was a bit much for me at the time. Had I smoked something more like John Bull, I might not have been put-off by Latakia when I came back to piping. The Burley and unflavored Cavendish in John Bull make it a good introductory English style blend.

Just an update on this. More experience with pipes and tobacco has done well for this blend. Ive figured out that drying and paying attention to moisture levels is very important to the taste.
When I first started this thread I was packing randomly into pipes fresh out of the bag i got it in. [ way to moist ] Now , more attention to packing and drying the tobacco has changed my opinion on it significantly. Glad I didnt do anything rash with the tobacco because when Im in the mood for a good aro, this may hit the spot.
Thanks to all for your input.

I have always thought it funny when people say they don't like blend so they throw it out...there are always opportunities to pass it on or give it a go another day.
I am in league with Darin though, Aromatics just do not deliver the freight for me...I smoke a few borderline aromatics like Erinmore Flake that seem to not be aromatic to me. I will always smoke Stokkebye Nougat occasionally, my first pipe smoke.

This is one of the very few aros I smoke. And by few, I mean 3 or 4 and not even a bowl a month. Dark Plug or Picayune really help this one out (for me).
Also, I never throw tobacco out. Except Tsuge Raijin because I didnt want to pass that horrid Elephant 💩 on to anyone else. If I dont like something, I set it aside for a while. If I revisit it and dont like it, it gets put in a pile for the pay it forward thread, or new guys.
