I have come across these three pipes and I am unsure about some things. I'm hoping you fine gentlemen can help. I can get more detailed pictures if needed.
The top pipe is a "huge" meerschaum and the pipe nor the custom case have any markings/designation. The case is red leather.
The second pipe is a Nording Black Smooth Freehand and everything I have read says these pipes are made of briar with a black stain and I am pretty certain that this pipe is a composite material and not briar. The green velvet bag seems to be an older style than the ones I have seen recently.
The bottom pipe is a E.A. Carey 40th anniversary and is a gorgeous pipe. It has a brass ring painted red with 1949-1988 between shank and stem and the stem is a beautiful cream color with brown streaks.
On the left side of the shank it says
E.A. Carey
40th Anniversary
Commemorative
On the right side of the shank it says
Magic Inch
Pat. No. xxxxxxxx England 1
And a circular "Made in London"

I'm no expert on meers but I think it's safe to say that it is from one of the Turkish carvers. The Nording is most certainly all briar. Nordings are very good smokers for a good price. The Caret Magic Inc is an innovative pipe and I recommend that you invest in the papyrate sleeves that go on the tenon. They are cheap and can be bought on Amazon. I got tube of 200 for about $15.00. Enjoy them all.

Jeff, what are your questions about the pipes? 1. I'm curious who made this meerschaum pipe and I have seen some similar pipes which were crazy expensive?
2. There is a small chip in this Nording which I can easily clean up but it does not expose any briar, just composite.
3. I'm curious if this E. A. Carey pipe is something special?

Can't help on the Meer or the Nording. E A Carey is a short drive from you on Whipple Ave in North Canton. They might be able to help you identify what you have.

No way to tell who carved the pipe The pipe is briar. I don't know what you are seeing, but they never made a composite pipe with birdseye grain. The Carey is decent pipe, but nothing special other than that it's probably a good smoker. About like a Grabow.

I will know when I start to clean up the chip/nick.

Maybe it is a very rare pipe, or the grain in the chipped place is deceptive. He makes a lot of modern design pipes, but they still have briar bowls except for one that uses a ceramic bowl.

The Nording is briar. The heavy stain may have seeped into the body, giving a false impression of a composite. The Carey is a Commemorative and would probably have value to a Carey collector.

I did a little more research and it appears I was mistaken on the Nording.
Here is a picture of one for sale on Tobaccopipes.com and it has the chip/nicks which I incorrectly assumed were the result of a drop or something on my pipe but it appears this is the way these pipes come? I found several pictures of new pipes for sale and they all have the imperfections on the rim. Interesting!

That doesn't look right to me.

Here's another pipe (Nording), and, yes, the plateau looks strange.
