I obtained a tin of Peterson Irish Flake and the labels look so cheap they look like bad counterfeits! BTW, does anyone know the dating system on these tins?
I hate to sound like my grandparents and parents but the world my grandsons will live in will be sterile and dangerous!

You should see the plain packaging and disgusting pics that they put on tobacco products here.

My favorite still has to be the naked guy curled up in fetal position with a note about how tobacco can cause impotence.

My favorite still has to be the naked guy curled up in fetal position with a note about how tobacco can cause impotence. There's one before pic of a healthy guy who then 'got lung cancer from smoking' with an after pic of him looking like death warmed up. It was soon revealed that the guy died from AIDS, not from smoking related disease. Even though this is known, the pics still remain.

I almost never buy Peterson's tobacco.
Is the tobacco any good at least? I usually jar and throw out the tin.
The old original nightcap tins were nice.

Agreed, but on the plus size the round tins do seal better than the older square tins.

I kept my first tin of Connoisseur's Choice which had the description as well. No "health alert" sticker either(we get these on both sides).
It's unfortunate, but I'm happy that at least a semblance of tin art remains on most. Tobacco for water pipes is just a color and a code here. I can't recall where it was, but I've also seen tins in pure olive green and nothing else on them.
So I enjoy it while it lasts!

Tins had very little to do with my purchases. I just bought for the contents.

Tin art does have some influence. I know it has added to sales in the past for Squadron Leader, Mellow Mallard, Choo ChooTrain, etc. It is a shame, these warning labels have ruined that.

I think tin art does influence people, just like the artwork on cigars has a huge influence. It's just a shame that the vast majority of companies these days are 100% concerned about squeezing the last nickle out of it's customers with 0% concern for customer satisfaction.
It's how business is done these days but I don't have to like

I saved alot of the older tins from 2013 when I first started getting re-interested in my pipes and tobacco...just for the tin art which I thought one day may have some value as art rather than as a tobacco tin...a number of the McClelland tins had some nice art on them as well...damn shame that the anti-s have changed all that.

You know what you're getting with their aromatics - they kinda have a signature taste to them. Old Dublin is a great tobacco though, if you're into latakia.

Years ago, C & D had their tin art posted on their website. If you don't like new labels, you could print a new label and attach it to you tin or jar lid. Now you could google the blend and perhaps you could find an old label to use. If nothing else, you could use a sharpie to completely cover the annoying portion.

Though there's plenty of room on the bottom half of the label...at least it's free of the gigantic death-threat warning!
