I sure as heck hope they didn't sent it out like this. I also sure as heck hope UPS and USPS didn't do this on purpose... Contained a 250g box of SG SJF. Contents were secure, but for Pete's sake!

Looks normal for most stuff shipped from our friends at P/C and C/I. Glad you got you SG.

It was likely the post office. A package of mine from SmokingPipes showed up like that once. It had a note inside explaining it had been caught in the machine during sorting.

I dont think P&C would ship it like that but delivery services, yes. They have to by law. I learned this earlier this year when I had a glass bottle of coffee flavoring break. I know all the people at our small town post office so one of them, Chad, left me a note to call him. Even though the liquid made the box NOT be a box anymore, they had to wrap it up and still make the delivery as its the law.

Never had that happen with smokingpipes.com. Had it several times with P&C.

I'm fine with re-cycling boxes as long as the order is correct.

P&C should make sure all the flaps are taped down... some boxes are made where you unfold it and the base opens in a folding manner, and they tape the top flaps shut. The preglued flaps on the base, can and will catch in a conveyor/ rollers and rip.... taping it before shipping would help.
That looks like a recoup job by the carrier.

In my experience with P&C/CI, it's a waste of time to open a support ticket. Mine sat for over 2 weeks, with the reply finally coming after having 2 phone conversations with them. The response was "We hope your issues were resolved in a satisfactory manner via your phone conversations"
Save your self the aggravation, and give them a ring.

I am not sure "Most Interesting Package" of the day is a worthwhile prize, but I think its yours Jason.

That's the plan if it doesn't show up in tomorrow's mail. At this point I'm sure I will be told that the order got "lost" and they'll give me house credit since SJF is now out of stock.
They were doing so well with my previous 10 order, no fault streak.

Another quality package handling job by UPS. In eight years I have submitted 30 claims for damaged parts because of how they handle packages. On the bright side it could have been FedEx and layed in the bushes for God knows how long.

This wasn't nthe bottom flaps, with those fold-up boxes they use. Something happened. I've heard reports of various carriers checking the contents of boxes sometimes, although this doesn't look like a surreptitious box opening. I guess the box could've been snagged on something. At least I got the package, safe and sound.

I don't think I've ever had a problem when it's just USPS handling a package.

UPS, FED X & USPS all partner. When we lived in the Asheville area last year (For 36 years) USPS would show up in snow situations when the other carriers didn't. I have a lot of respect for the old mail service.

Got a box in from TP. Luckily all the items were safe. Since we ( Cramptholomew ) live in the same area, I'm wondering if its our postal service. My post office gets the mail from your local post office. I think, you live closer to the "city" office than the rural office so yours comes dirrect and mine takes an extra day getting from that one to mine.

I wouldn't put it past the p.o. people to be rifling through our stuff.

I have only ever had one minor issue with a shipment from P&C. The box got here fine, but all the airbags inside were busted like they had been stepped on. I figured it was extremely rough handling. The tins were banged up but still sealed.

I would challenge the comment stating this is "normal for P&C". I've been a customer for many years and can't give you a count on how many packages I've received from P&C...same for many guys I know. Their stuff has been packed perfectly every time, including pillows to take up extra space, and always proper taping. I guarantee this was an accident in the shipping process. I know the opinions some folks have of those handling packages at USPS / UPS, etc...but if you've ever spent a minute much less a day or a week in that environment, you'd know that stuff happens. The fact that they taped it up nicely to assure nothing would fall out causes me to give them major kudos.

Anger and subsequent paranoia concerning Pipes & Cigars is out and devouring a bit of common sense on this one. Obviously, there is no way a package would be sent out of P&C looking like this (unless it is a joke). No doubt a mistake by UPS or USPS, often the last carrier in the delivery, caused this problem. If you received a package like this and thought P&C did it, I think you might need help.
PS The picture looks like the top of the box, not the glued bottom. Besides, many companies use these types of boxes and I do not see UPS or USPS refusing to ship them. The carrier should be held responsible for not being able to properly secure and deliver freight undamaged; unless someone is deceiving or defrauding them.

I do not discount legit stories of others but add my thoughts again and again and again on this matter for those who might be new to P&C and all this Patch love for the company . Pipes and Cigars, have the most frequent and many times the best sales of any online retail pipe tobacco company . Like with any purchase, you have to be savvy, careful and look to other web-pages like Tobaccopipes.com or Smokingpipes.com (two other good retailers to have in your file) to see where the best prices can be found. One store's sale might be another's regular selling price or perhaps another sale is better, always check. Bottom line if you want to build a cellar and funds are tight, P&C sales should be on your list. There are other forum members that no longer post P&C sales information, because of a cast of folks who feel compelled to always give their, oh no it is P&C, story . I think this is a shame and write not to dismiss others' claims, but approach the topic from a different perspective and experience.
