Been thinking about trying this, with a cake. Has anyone tried this if so what are your thoughts?
I am considering some Burley, Virginia, Dark Fired with a touch of Perique.

I cannot say what your blend idea will become with double pressing. Even changing the amount of one thing can create a very different beast and sometimes pressing makes a blend really pop while other times it adds nothing or very little.
I do think double pressing can make a difference. I've been experimenting with this since the tail end of of 2018 and for my taste I can say the only thing that's been worth double pressing was a Virginia. The one I have used more often than not is Sutliff's 515 RC-1. By pressing, letting it rest, rubbing it out and pressing again, the blend evens out just a bit more. Its not a very big difference from the first pressing but smoking two bowls side by side, there is a bit of a difference.
With that said, I've also taken blends that were already pressed such as Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Navy Flake, rubbed it out and pressed it again. Similar results when smoking side by side. A small difference, not huge but noticeable.
It takes very little effort on my part so making some double pressings and keeping them in my cellar is worth it to me.

Here's an idea ... do two batches with the first one being all together at the start. For the second one, try pressing the Burley and Virginia together first and then re-pressing with the DFK and Perique. Honestly, it's hard to say what will come of it without trying ... so get busy!

I just pressed a mixture of Sutliff 515 with 507-S and a tiny amount of perique. I pressed it for six days. Today I removed it, cut it in half, stuck 1 piece in a mason jar, rubbed out the other half and then re-pressed it. I’m going to keep pressing it for another 4-7 days and eventually smoke them side by side.
I will follow up with the results.

I've been thinking of doing the same with 515; a 515 VaPer Kake sounds tasty.
