We have a local hero in Houston known as Mattress Mac. He is a friend of presidents, and world leaders. He started selling furniture from a tent on the North Freeway just across from my mom's house. He has built up the biggest furniture business in the Houston area through hard work and perseverance. Any young people who want to succeed in life should study this man and his philosophy. He is a very wealthy man now, and he gives back to the community in a big way. He owns Princess Diana's wedding dress and one of her diamond necklaces. His furniture showroom has a playroom for kids that is open to any kids in the area. He donates furniture to people who have lost everything and are trying to put their lives back together. During Hurricane Harvey he opened his store to families who were forced from their homes to let them live there for weeks. People asked him what he was going to do with the mattresses that they slept on. He said, "I'm going to sell them! They aren't bad mattresses because some people slept on them for a few nights."
He's provided scholarships for hundreds of kids who didn't have any idea of how they would go about getting an education. He doesn't brag or show off. He helps anyone who needs it regardless of their background, race or religion. He is more admired than President Bush 41 by the people who knew both of them. His advice is straight forward and real and can benefit anyone who is willing to listen.
