Wife is in town shopping and she’s gonna pick up for me a Burger King Impossible Whopper. It’s a plant based burger, probably will wind up in the trash.

It’s big, smells good, for full disclosure I’m on a 3 month Low Carb diet for Drs visit tomorrow, wife put burger in a low carb wrap, cut it in half, first bite, good taste, just a little drier than meat, but I’m being picky, paddy was kind of charred on one end, but really didn’t put me off. All in all if you are off red meat for any reason, you won’t be disappointed. I Garronte!

Glad it worked out. I'm hoping to getting around to trying it.
That's the thing about veggie burgers and other alternatives though, they aren't really "healthier" as they tend to be higher in carbs.

I had some grilled sausage a couple of weeks ago which was plant based and if I had not been told I never would have known.
Thinking about going off meat for a while. Have a couple of packs Tofu and will start smoking it soon... on the grill, hickory and fruit woods.

I've been a vegetarian for over 25 years now. [Initially it was not my intention. Going meat free for several months changed me in ways that I never expected] Generally speaking I'm not a fan of meat substitutes but some are really tasty. Tofu can be delicious. Shallow fried till crispy on the outside, served with veggies, rice and a spicy homemade spicy sauce is a dish that even my carnivore friends really enjoy. Cutting back on meat has a lot of health benefits. Moderation and all that.

Tried one this afternoon. I was greatly surprised how much it was meaty. If I didn't know I realy don't think I could tell the difference except for the carb increas!

I love veggies, don't get me wrong. But I also love tastey moo moos!
I'm glad it was eatable Brad.

Give me meat or give me death! (I'm going down clogged arteries and all) I love veggies, don't get me wrong. But I also love tastey moo moos! I'm glad it was eatable Brad. Ever wondered why prior to WWII clogged arteries was rather rare? It's a modern disease. Back then people regularly ate dripping and lard for example. Everything was full fat as nature intended. Natural fats are healthy in a balanced diet. During WWII many foods were rationed, including cooking fats such as lard. The new vegetable oils such as canola and sunflower couldn't be given away before then, housewives and cooks weren't interested until they had no other option. Health 'authorities' pushed these veg oils and margarine as a healthier option to animal fats and butter. Here's what I learnt from a couple of Nexus magazine articles - www.nexusmagazine.com - Canola and sunflower oils are denatured by the extraction process that uses heat and chemicals. They'd be perfectly fine if they were cold-pressed but using heat and chemicals is more profitable. Margarine is even worse. Do a simple experiment; put a teaspoon of margarine on a plate and put it on top of a kitchen cupboard. One could leave it there for months and it will not grow mould. Rats, mice and cockroaches do not recognise it as food and will not touch it. Denatured veg oils and margarine damage arterial walls. As a defense, the body lays down cholesterol to protect against an aneurysm. Another group of researchers found that these oils damage cell walls where it inhibits insulin's ability to pass through and explains why diabetes is also a rampant modern disease. An elderly Italian gent that I know had a 95% blockage of his carotid arteries. As Italians typically use cold-pressed olive oil in home cooking, I asked if he ate margarine and fried food from take-away shops. He told me that he ate fried fish and chips most days for lunch. Stick to natural animal fats and butter, avoid margarine and non-cold-pressed veg oils, and you'll not ever have to worry about clogged arteries.

I will eat red meat as long as it's available. After that, there's all those lean, grass fed vegens. 😉😎😁😈😈🤠
