I can see you hanging out at the Oaf Nation site. Your probably deplorable too. 😉😁🤠 "Native Americans have been enjoying tobacco since the sixteenth century"? I think not. Before the European Invasion, tobacco was not smoked for pleasure, but only in religious ceremonies. And pipes have been found with tobacco in them that dated to 8000 BCE. Otherwise an interesting read.

It was written from the perspective of a person that enjoys tobacco, not a historian, I figured that he meant that the old world discovered that the native Americans smoked it in the 16th century...and he never made the claim they smoked it as we do for enjoyment as opposed to religious ceremonies, just that they smoked it.

appreciate the article Charlie. Between me reminding myself how old I am + others who've reminded me of same, I just might go back to the above "them thar days" mentioned. Heh!
at 12/29/40, still can claim "seniority" unless somebody can prove me wrong.

Otherwise an interesting read. The native tobacco that was used in ceremonies was/is extremely high in nicotine. It's why they'd have a puff and pass the pipe.

Easy in tone and informative, it could spark the curiosity in some non pipe smokers who read it.

Nice article, Charlie. Will it encourage non-smokers to start a pipe? Who knows. It can't hurt.
I really hope his prediction that pipe tobacco will stand the test of time long after cigarettes are gone. It's an ambitious statement.

I hope you are right, Paddy, but it doesn't look real promising at this point.
