I seen some Morgan pipes and thought why so inexpensive?
I like the One Dublin which is a long shanked pipe without a stem. It’s out of stock but if he does commissions I may have to try at least one. He has a Lightning finish but I have no idea what it is?

I love mine. It's a bones pipe and smokes great.
The lightning effect is done by soaking it in conducting liquid and putting electrodes on it. The electrical current burns the path from one electrode to the other... Something like that anyway.

I have several of the Bones versions. The Lightening finish has an etched look, apparently done with lasers or electricity of some form. It is noted they can't do the lightening finish in certain weather conditions!
I don't have any Morgan pipes other than the Bones, but those are fine smoking pipes, rugged and not tremendously expensive for a briar pipe. They are my primary "truck" pipes when on the road. I won't hesitate to get another one, one of these days.

I’ll probably try one of the “ One” when it becomes available and I’ll probably order a Rhodat before day is over.

They're cheap because he buys pre-turned bowls in bulk and finishes stems cut from blanks.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that process. Almost all Peterson pipes are made the same way.
Morgan's are perfectly nice pipes at a reasonable price.

I have a blackjack bulldog and it's a nice smoker. Never bothered getting a bones.

He just put a fresh batch of new pipes out and the hourglass poker looks nice. Is there any pictures of the lightning finish? Is it for appearance or smoking qualities?

One thing that comes to mind is how much wood it takes a carver to go through before he makes a pipe he wants to put a high grade on.
I’ve only carved 3 pipes and only one didn’t have pits randomly appear but the pipes with pits smoked just as good if not better.

Just got my Bones Big Tulip -- as far as I'm concerned they are good to go! I'll be ordering more in the future. This is my favorite pipe already. Check out my thread in the general forum for photos.

I have a Morgan bones poker, a bent bones outdoorsman, one of his Arbutus pokers, and his smooth briar cigar. All of his bones pipes are fantastic smokers and at such a good price. The Arbutus poker is also a great poker and great looking. To be honest about it, the briar cigar works, it's just not a traditional pipe smoking experience. I only use it when I know there's a huge chance of rain when I'm outdoors and as a novelty showoff item on occasion. The smooth briar cigar he sent me as a bonus gift when he was running one of his specials. Watch for his specials as major holidays approach and times like International Pipe Smoking Day. He gives away items like bones pipes, flapjacks, briar and/or cob cigars with pipe orders, During the same special where Chris sent me a briar cigar, another pipe buyer was given a coupon for a custom made pipe by Chris!
I also have a bones Savinelli 320 that's a favorite pipe of mine. Bones pipes are great pipes for the prices involved.
