Open for discussion. This isn't why cobs are better than briar or why briar is better than cobs.
Just a simple question, what is your favorite thing about cobs?
There are many things I like, but I think my favourite thing about cobs is that there is a distinct lack of dottle. Pretty much every bowl smokes right to the bottom with no foul taste.
What about everyone else?

I like the fact that you can stain them to get whatever desired results you want...that is the exterior. On the interior as Paddy said, you can smoke pretty much anything and it smokes right to the bottom. There are different sized bowls so you can find however the length of smoke you want, from 15-20 minutes to an hour with the bigger bowls.

Mine take severe abuse and are still going strong after a year and a half. The 2 in my current "rotation" get smoked at least once a day, sometimes all day long. They've had everything from goopers to lat bombs and I've never had any trouble with them.
They're cheap, they last, they smoke great, they're light and comfortable. Also, I havent found anything that smokes "bad" in a cob.
Legends are perfect for ~20 mins and sometimes that's all the time I have

These pipes were made for the working man. The farm hand, woodsman, cowboy and others that worked with their hands that didn't have the money to purchase a Meershaum, or to have a pipe with them so their Meershaum could be saved. Also a pipe that was stronger then Clay to last in the pocket, and survive every day usage. That was a cooler smoke and possibly a longer smoke then their Clays. So why are the Corn Cob pipe popular today? Easy, the simplicity of the design. Even though there are many models are made the basic simple design is the same. So with all of that said It is time for a simple pipe With a simple enjoyable tobacco

Lightweight, easy to clench, open draw, fantastic heat and moisture dissipation providing a dependably great smoke every time. Also, Cobs are not "disposable" pipes and actually get better over time. In fact, I hate new cobs and can't wait to get them broken in. There is a good reason that with all the pipe options out there today that Cobs are still very mainstream in the smoking community.

I suppose the term, 'disposable' refers more to the fact that if your legend breaks, it's easy to pick another one up and it'll be pretty much exactly like the one you just broke. But I get your point. They're certainly not 'throw-away' pipes. And nice comment at the end. Says it all, really.

I do have a problem with Cobs.
I am not able to find a Cutty. I can find an Devil Anse but not a full size Curry. Well Maybe some day I'll find one.
Wait a minute I think I know someone who could make one. Which bowl to use? General, Gentleman, Twain, Mizzou, Huckfinn, Pony Express, Tom Sawyer or a Legend?

Cobs don't make me cry if I drop it in the water when fishing.

One more alternative to the great range of pipe smoking options. Briar, Cherry, Meerschaum, Morta and Cob. Each one carries the flavor a little differently. I like them all.

Don't have to worry about scorching the rim, dropping it, breaking it and sometimes even cleaning it. And I can bang it on anything to empty it.

Simplicity. Also there is just something special about the way Burley interacts with a cob. It might be purely psychological but for some reason it seems to me Burley tastes better in a cob.

Besides all the good reasons already mentioned I like the fact that I am able to grow my own cobs from real MM corn seed, make a nifty pipe and smoke my homegrown tobacco in it.
No tobaccoplypse here!

Recent additions of the 2 Cobbit models and a TowneCobbler brings my cob collection to 79, so I guess I do like 'em.

Cheap with no worries. Lost, broken damaged? No problem other than if you need to replace it with a new one. I'm on the same boat of that a new cob is not good. Need to run some filled bowls through it before its really worth enjoying.
It's also nice to decorate for those of us with no pipe making skills. My current favorite one is a cob I hung in my smoker while making ribs. The hickory smoke gave it a nice brown color and after sitting outside for two weeks, all smells were gone from the smoking process. Sorry for no pictures though but I'll try and get one posted soon for anyone interested.

Simplicity, easy smoker after a few bowls, cheap. Iconic, American.
And many people love them. I just don't care to smoke them.
