Arango Balkan Supreme is close to the "new" Balkan Sobranie in my opinion.

Yes, I've seen those ABS comparisons made too. If the Sutliff is close, it will be doing it for significantly less than the price of the Arango.

In regard to Sutliff, I don't know as not a P&C tobacco customer. If that were the case, I would have expected to see it in WAYS postings over the years.

A few years ago Sutliff was held in the same regard as Captain Black Grape. In 2013 Mac Baren took over Sutliff introducing blends of quality higher than the previous flagship Mixture 79.

A few years ago Sutliff was held in the same regard as Captain Black Grape. In 2013 Mac Baren took over Sutliff introducing blends of quality higher than the previous flagship Mixture 79. This was true because a lot of pipe smokers are ignorant about who actually makes the tobaccos that they smoke. Sutliff put out a lot of goopers under their own name, but they were blending and supplying component tobaccos for a lot of other labels. MacBaren had nothing to do with any change in quality. As an example, McClelland got their Syrian Latakia, the stuff that people are spending a lot of money to buy in the secondary market, from Sutliff. If was pretty amusing to read someone damning Sutliff while praising a blend under another label that was created by, blended by and tinned by, Sutliff, using their "second rate" tobaccos.

That's not even what I was referring to. Brand blends does not have anything to do with component sells. Of course I knew you chime in with all your wisdom. You should write us all a big list of what blends are repacked by what companies. Then we could all share your knowledge and wisdom and become more informed pipers and not so ignorant. That's a lot harder than making a blanket statement about how ignorant we all are.

A note of interest some believe that the original BS had deer tongue and that is why it was called a mixture. Who knows for sure what the heck was in the original.

That's a lot harder than making a blanket statement about how ignorant we all are. I'm sorry that your ego just got bruised, but that's on you. Grow up. And my response was on target with your post, so you may have some reading comprehension issues as well. The reason I get to know about stuff that you don't is because I don't break any promises regarding trade secrets that have been shared with me. So you can forget about my writing a list to satisfy you. I can mention the McClelland connection because McClelland closed up shop. But like it or not, I get to hear about "stuff" that you don't. And that access has benefited more than one person in this forum as was the case early last year when I was able to tip off a couple of members about final shipments of McClelland blends days prior to their arrival, so they would have an opportunity to stock up on their favorite blends before they went away. I knew when the shipments left and what blends were in them. Just like I knew many months before McClelland closed that they were closing. That's a problem for you, that's just your problem.

Since this thread is giving details of a tobacco that's currently listed, there's no more to add to that...
