I haven’t been to a pipe show and I’d like go even just to meet carvers and look at work.
How are the prices shows compared to online shops?

In my experience prices are usually a fair bit lower. How much lower is going to depend on a lot of factors.
For an artisan maker in high demand, the prices my be hardly lower at all, but you get to buy from a larger selection, before the remnants are sent to the retail channel.
For the distributors of factory pipes, there can be some screaming deals.

The real deals for me are in estate pipes. You can handle them and make sure it's all to your liking before $$. There are some real deals, too.
