I like my Nimrod Pipe Lighter. Made in Cincinnati, USA
The company that made these still exists, but they no longer sell lighters or camper trailers
The campers and lighters were both sold under the "Nimrod" brand.

Sidebar: read the small print, Ali Babba is prohibited from doing business in Washington State (don't know about others). Mine says Z-pipe & then there are some patent numbers in very small print. No Ali Babba. 🧙🏼♂️

I have two of those Z-Pipe inserts. One doesnt work so well but thats my fault and tossed it. The other works fine. A click here or there doesnt light but over all, pretty consistent.

Someone mentioned Clipper lighters so I bought a torch I have refilled it three times with success that's a better average than most fancy lighters I have purchased.

What surprised me after attending a few pipe shows this year was that a large majority of pipers used Bics with the second most being Zippo's and just a few with matches of other lighters. I have a couple nicer lighters but Bics and my Zippo's are my work horses. Could be partly because many don't like to take a good butane on an airplane on the way to a show. Or don't want to risk losing it or having it stolen while in a mass of folk. I am matches and refillable butane all the way, but I am retired, and have to spend money somewhere! I just bought my first Zippo in five decades, and it will go with me on the golf course and sailboats. But those who say it has no fuel smell.... And having no gaskets is one reason the fuel constantly escapes. Vaseline around the fill tank will help a bit, but the wick is always doing what it's supposed to do: wick fuel up the rope..

I have been using a birthday candle lighter that I get at a local dollar store for $1 each. Just a touch bigger than a Bic. Keeps the flame away from your thumb with it.
