Just kidding. It would be better to tape it to a nuke, and drop it in the sea, away from people of course. Stupid butane lighter is driving me nutts Lol 😜🙃 maybe I can sneak it on a rocket headed to Mars....... No, those poor Marstions would just go nutts too, trying to light their pipes, & rocket it back to Earth. It’s in a nice black case with STANWELL in white printed on it, & that’s the only good thing about it. Tired of clicking it to no avail, lights once every ten clicks.😡 I need a sludge hammer first then I’ll buy a knew one Lol😁 Or I could turn it into a frog and drop it in a pond & the other side of the world.🧙🏼♂️

Why I like my Zippo fueled lighters... no gaskets to leak, impervious to altitudinal issues, works in the wind.
I bought an old boy and it was a dog... My Japanese Colibri no one will work on as the filling port gasket leaks.

I was at my B&M to get more matches because they like to give them to me for free. However the lady that was working talked me into an Eternity pipe lighter. Its got a built in tamper in the bottom of it. Have i set myself up for a 20$ fail?

Lucky for me I just found my old lighter fluid one with the wick, so at least I can smoke. I’m sure things will look better in the morning. Lol Good night all. 🧙🏼♂️

Have two Kiribis and a Dunhill. Had them for years. I use good fuel and they've never failed me.

I'm still using my Dunhill Rollalite fuel lighter I got back in'69 . It's worked flawlessly all these years. Had in for factory service just once in all these years. They don't make it anymore, the Rollagas model has replaced it. It's a butane fueled lighter that looks and operates the same as the Rollalite. After all the stories about butane lighters I've heard it's fuel lighters and wooden matches for me !

Just now went online to look at lighters, I saw a Dunhill Men’s Silver Beam Rollergas Lighter for, get this, $950.00 if I’m gona spend a thousand on a lighter, it better come with a $900.00 pipe. Lol 😀 Just saying. Now if I had a million or 2, I guess it would be no big deal. But I’m jus an average guy who according to my wife, spends way too much on Pipes & baccy, but I disagree of course. My most exspensive pipe is $300.00 & I’m lucky to have that. After I win the Lottery, I’ll get the Dunhill & the $900.00 pipe on the side. Lol😀🧙🏼♂️

A couple of questions. Is it an ignition problem or a fuel problem? If you hold it up to a lighted match does it ignite every time? If so, it is an ignition problem. Try blowing high pressure air through the area around the igniter. If the match doesn’t light it, it is a fuel problem. Either the fuel orifice is plugged or the fuel needs upgraded. I’ve found that butane lighters work better with high grade butane. As to lighters: the last butane lighter I purchased was this Old Boy knock off from Aliexpress: www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.622c4c4d3bmR3U&orderId=104124827045667&productId=32822074356 I’ve been using it for six weeks or so with no problems. For $13.80 delivered you can’t go too wrong.

Bought a Corona Old Boy years ago, dropped it the day I bought it, and it hasn't worked since. I just use BICs, Zippos, a Nimrod, and a Bowers trench lighter.

Dunhill still sells fluid lighters, but only in the "Unique" line, their original, pre-Rollalite design.
P.S. Alfred Dunhill's brother literally invented the automatic lighter as we know it. He took out patents, licensed to Alfred's firm, of course

Lol😀🧙🏼♂️ If you actually go into a Dunhill store, or a Dunhill dealer, you should be able to get a classic Rollagas for more like $400-$500.
A truly good refillable butane lighter is expensive. Dunhill charges more than is strictly necessary, because it's Dunhill, but you won't find a good one for less than a hundred bucks.
If you want a good lighter, a good fluid lighter can be had for $10. A good butane lighter can be had for five dollars, but it won't be refillable.
If you want a good butane lighter that is also refillable, count on spending a hundred dollars or more. It's a hard engineering problem, and it is a luxury item.

As much as I despise Jeff Beazos, I despise a Chi-Com business more. I loathe the Chinese Communist Party, but I sometimes do business with Chinese businesses anyway. In this day and age, a wide variety of products are not available unless you want to buy from China.
I have some really very fine fluid lighters made in China. They are knockoffs of 20th century British and French designs, but their original makers have been out of business for seven decades. I'm happy to have Chinese clones, since no other product is available/

The Old Boy is made from sheet brass instead of solid. It's a very fine product, but it isn't the same as a solid brass lighter. Notably, if it is dropped hard enough, you can jostle the internals and break the damn thing.
I.M. Corona, makers of the Old Boy, also make a number of solid brass lighters. Dunhill/Dupont quality at less than half the price.

What surprised me after attending a few pipe shows this year was that a large majority of pipers used Bics with the second most being Zippo's and just a few with matches of other lighters. I have a couple nicer lighters but Bics and my Zippo's are my work horses.

I have been using a Xikar Pipeline for over 2 years. It my initial charting lighter indoors only, no better maybe worse than a Bic in the wind. Outdoors I use my Zippo with pipe insert. No issues as long as I clean it well (nozzle especially) with Everclear, and use good high quality Butane. i snagged it during a good sale plus had a coupon from P&C so was a great deal. still less than 50 bucks if you shop around, but OOS frequently.

BICs are great in the wind. Face the wind and make a windscreen with the hand holding the pipe.

Sidebar: read the small print, Ali Babba is prohibited from doing business in Washington State (don't know about others). And so are all the online tobacco sellers. Sounds like a Washington problem; state, not DC. The reality is that we live in a global market, whether we like it or not. I’d rather buy a $13.80 lighter and spend the saved money on tobacco, but each to their own.

That's a total misreading of my comment. It was meant (as it clearly states) as a note to Washington State residents, that Ali Babba does not ship here.

I've never had a Xikar that wasn't a complete piece of junk, but they really do honor their warranty. Mail the broken one in, they'll send you a fresh one back.

"a large majority of pipers used Bics with the second most being Zippo's"...that is me 100%...got tired of futzing with different kinds of lighters...got a Beattie Jet lighter that is a workhorse, but the chance of rim burn (with shaky hands) is the reasons I don't use it that often.
