It was hot time in the work shop today.
3 Missouri Meershaum factory seconds got a new lease on life.
One turned out being a Devil Anse. That came in at 10.6 cm The other 2 are straights. That came in at 13.3cm.
And the 3 of them are filter less. They have hard wood plugs inserted. The new shanks were turned from a nice hardwood.
It is a shame you couldn't be here to watch the destruction and the reconstruction of these pipes. Well maybe some of the Azpipeclub members will get to see them in the next couple of weeks.
Sorry no pics

You see these are a warm up for a project I'm considering. I'm considering doing my version of a Bing. Now I have to select which MM bowl I want to work with. Then I have to consider the hardwood do the shank. Since the shank is about 7.5 cm in length and the typical Bing has a thin shank, the stress aginst the mortis from the tenon must be considered the wall thickness of the mortis may only be 1mm depending on the OD of the shank. Keep in mind this is being done with out seeing the 2018 POY and only pictures of the Briar pipe.
No back to the current stumbling block pictures. My Dear Watson, this may be a three or five pipe problem. Oh damn Watson the slipper is empty.
