I've had Armellini pipes in the past, but ended up selling them for one reason or another. I saw this one on ebay that I liked the looks of and decided to make an offer on it. I was quite pleased to have the offer accepted, which was rather cheap ($29). I don't think the pipe had been smoked more than a few times, hardly any cleaning was needed. It is stamped as a Europa, Mauro Armellini, and the stem is stamped hand cut. I never hear much about them, they seem to be nice pipes, however they never seem to bring much money. I know Tinder Box used to sell them, and he made a series of pipes specifically for their stores called Verona and Napoli. Maybe it's that association that brings them down more than other hand made pipes from Italy. Anyone have any of these, and what do you think of them?

I have a couple of them and like them quite a bit. Good smokers and under-the-radar much like Mastro Beraldi.

I have seen several that I desired, but I haven't pulled the trigger.

I just looked at the pipes on eBay and they are very attractive for the prices. Has anyone noticed that across the board poker shaped pipes are pulling in a premium?

I think I remember them having a wire with a lead seal circled through the pipe.

I have a Europa labeled billiard that is a great smoker. It is just labeled Europa Made in Italy.

At SP Estates they are always in excess of $50.00 and up, so you did well. A family company, now run by the Daughter, who is reported to have maintained the same standards of her Father.

I think I remember them having a wire with a lead seal circled through the pipe. Like a gas meter? Yeah, with a soft braided wire. They might have later went to a yellow braided string with a plastic seal. I drooled over them at Tobacco Road in the Dayton-Raddisson Arcade in Mpls when I was a kid.

Dave I remember seeing those strings run through pipes but can not remember the exact brand. I want to say L'Anatra but I am probably wrong.

Thanks for the responses guys! The pipe is smoking fine, the drilling is just right and no gurgles. I might have to pick up another one some day.
