No Dunhill expert, but enjoying McConnell Dark Flake. Initially a bit harsh, then transforms to very smooth. Nic obvious but not overwhelming. Slow burn and non temperamental. Jim gives it a somewhat conditional review at 2 1/2* as a Match and 3* as an Original.

Okay, Here is my opinion on the new blends. They can not be compared! I used the newest tin of Dunhill I have which was from 2/7/17 and the Peterson was from 8/19. There is just over two and a half years difference in the tins. All tobacco changes over time.
Both tobaccos look the same when compared side by side. The dryness is almost identical. There is a noticeable difference in the tin smell. Everyone that smelled it said they are not even close. The Dunhill had a earthy/ citrus smell while the Peterson more of a woody/campfire smell.
Taste was different as well. The Dunhill had a sharper stronger taste to it while the Peterson was a little more subdued. I thought it would have been the other way around since the Dunhill had more age on it. If they had the same age on it I would say there is no question they are different. There is no way to accurately compare the two.
I really like Dunhill Nightcap and have enough to last me till I'm gone so I won't be getting anymore of the Peterson. But, if you told me I could only finish one of the opened tins I would probably pick the Peterson. If you are new to Nightcap, the Peterson blend is great. Enjoy!

Hard to believe, but good to hear. Thanks for the review, Cliff!

I found a website in Germany that’s selling the ‘new’ Dunhill blends: www.tecon-gmbh.de/index.phpThey supposedly deliver to the United States. Is anyone familiar with this company? I clicked the link and go a great site for the Peterson Earley Morning Pipe & Nightcap. The artwork is the same but where it used to say Dunhill, it now says Peterson. I will get some next month to try it out. Nice find! 🧙🏼♂️

So McConnell is making Dunhill match blends with different names but Peterson is releasing them under the original names? McConnell does not in fact have rights to the names or recipes. Peterson does. McConnell has however released look alike that some say are fairly close.

Same blends with a Peterson label. That certainly works for me. This is great news for all of us Dunhill fans. I suspected their blends wouldn't be gone for long, but stocked up on them while they were still available just in case. I am waiting with baited breath for this release. Can't wait to see them come back.
