SP recently revised their top selling aromatics list and Half & Half comes in at #11 in sales. This surprised me. It is not seen much on this site. It is a blend I have gone back and forth on, sometimes filling the bill and sometimes I can't tolerate it.
What are your thoughts/experience with this classic O.T.C.?

I dont love it. I dont hate it. As per the name, I'm very "Half & Half". Its a good codger blend that when I have an itch for it, the time smoking it is truly a pleasure.
For me it has a personal feeling to it as my neighbor when I was young, smoked this exclusively. The smell and the pouch colors are a throwback to my youth. So its very nostalgic to me.

Never care for the new half and half...seems I remember a better taste years ago...this one has a chemical smell to my nose and taste.

A member posted in the past, that this was his choice for a Holiday blend due to its festive flavoring and cheerful red and green packaging (though warning labels will detract from that).

It's one of my 2 favorite codger blends. The topping is different than anything else. It's not a STRONG topping, but it'll ghost a pipe for a smoke or two. Also, it might be my favorite codger blend branding.
Edit: make that top 3 codger blends. I keep forgetting that, I guess, Five Brothers could be considered a codger blend, but it's really in a league of its own.

Havent tried it. One day I'm going to make an order and buy all the OTCS that arent quite OTC.

I liked it when it still had deer tongue in the blend. I have not smoked the latest version.

hate it... has a rancid cranberry taste to me..no wait.. a rancid fruit cake taste to me.. i tried it once..then twice..ditched the pouch and pipe

They used to make pre rolled cigarettes as a kid my buddies dad smoked them. Somewhere along the way the blend changed it is still enjoyable but not as good as I remember.

I had one pouch with a very strong stale beer smell that was gross until it aired out. Then it was pretty pleasant. Smokes cool with good flavor from the spice topping. I picked up a pouch recently to go with the changing weather and it was perfectly pleasant from the first bowl. It is a nice blend not too sweet at all. |

This was one of the first blends I tried and liked. Smoked it regularly until the early 80's then lost interest. Tried it a couple of years ago. OMG, that stuff was nasty all I could taste was a nasty chemical aftertaste. At the same time I also tried Velvet back in the day it was a good smoke. Now i can't smoke it because of the chemical aftertaste.
These two and some others are good to refresh the circular file.

Didn't care for the new version. Didn't mind the old version. john_r is spot on with the chem's.
