Just for curiosity. I have watched many videos on youtube about pipes before I joined here. I have a question, why does everyone think they must be smoking a pipe, while talking about pipes? Now if they are talking about how to smoke, I understand demonstrating a method. If I was making video on how IPA beers were made, I wouldn't have to be drinking one to help explain this.   |

That's a great question. I kinda like to see people smoking their pipes in a pipe video, but I've no idea why.

Someone joked once where Shane Ireland puffed on a pipe during a video, and you never saw any smoke. I think he got razzed pretty good about it, since then he actually smokes.

Might have been this one. He sat down with the president of Sutliff talking about Mixture 79. He had the pipe and would seem to take a puff but nothing and Jeremy din't have a pipe at all. I know I found it a little off as its normal for Shane to smoke on camera. |

I had asked this question with a "tongue in cheek" method and am glad to see I didn't ruffle any feathers, but actually humor arising from this. This is what a great group is all about.

If I am looking for something about pipes or smoking and I open a video where the person is smoking, I immediately close it and move on. I can't stand watching a guy smoke a pipe for 10 minutes to explain 30 seconds worth of info.

I just cannot believe some youtubers will take 10 minutes to open a tin of tobacco, and act like they are opening the ark of the covenant... while being lousy speakers. I prefer podcasts for anything related to pipes and tobacco, and that is a pretty short list. |

So just like smokeless gunpowder, they make smokeless tobacco? I would assume this is a healthier choice?  Or did he just have a really thick filter? |

There was no pipe smoking in that, that I could see. I was comparing the chugging of beer to pipe smoking. Only the beer chugging had nothing to do with a water softener. But it shows unnecessary things in videos. I don't need to see this to understand video, but it does turn some off. |
