Even in 90 degree heat the old oaks know it Is supposed to be fall as their leaves are changing and dropping. In the spring they never seem to bud until after the last frost. Them old oaks are pretty smart for a tree.

93 degrees here today, absolutely a beautiful day at the park...warmer than what I like, but anything below triple digits is welcome. We are really looking forward to wintertime, the family agreed to have bi-monthly get togethers at the park, hiking, or shooting.

I am wondering about riding through southern NM and AZ in the winter. With the leather and long johns we like winter riding. No way we're going to either in the summer. Summer north of Albuquerque and Flagstaff seems to be just fine. Can't wait to get back on the road.

Check out the reviews on products like UnderArmor cold weather gear..a lot of their products are spandexy feeling but some of them newer products deliver warmth without looking like Randy on a Christmas story.

Ritchie? We have cold weather gear, but we don't want to ride in the 40s or below. This is probably a discussion for @darin.

Cold weather gear in the swamp is a long sleeved t-shirt or Henley. Except for those four brutal days of winter when the temps go down to 20.

Next step will be the liner in the coat and the heavier winter gloves. Last step is the winter snow-pants ... after that the bike gets a month or so of rest once it's under 30ยฐF in the mornings.

My favorite winter riding gear is a police motorcycle jacket over a flannel shirt over a long sleeve t. On the bottom is thermals under heavy, double layer jeans and heavy chaps. Wool socks in insulated boots. And heavy gloves. I wired the seat to increase the heat, the grips get too hot as it is. I have snowmobile pants, but it is too much trouble to get into them.

The best winter gear I saw was a copy of an old flying suit. Leather coveralls with sheepskin lining. This was 40 years ago when I say that outfit. BTW, the guy rode an Ariel Square Four.

Is all that gear for the brutal 50 degree Houston winter days? No, last time we wore it was on highway 4 in northern New Mexico. 7000 to 11000 feet and sleet and snow.

I always thought that my Honda Magna 750 was the grandchild of the Ariel. Only one crankshaft though. Great exhaust note too.

My daughter moved to Ogden Utah for her job she is about to get her first taste of cold weather as the morning are already in the 40s and expecting 30s later this week. For her birthday a few months back I sent her a down Patagonia jacket and she told me it was to heavy. Silly child father knows best.

Summer in middle TN this year was a bit longer than usual. I live with no AC and make it just fine you get used to it. Work early mornings and at night with lights. Take naps in the middle of the day with the cats.

Parked in the shade I can take a nap during the day stretched out on my back buddy in the cab with windows down and A/C off... it has been a long time since I have been able to do that.
Currently 85 degrees with a nice breeze.
