How do you do your rotation? I generally have 4 to 6 tobaccos that I'm smoking, and 3 or 4 pipes. I smoke 3 - 4 bowls a day. Right now the tobaccos are OGS, Kendal Flake, Aged Burley Flake, PS sweet vanilla, Big N Burley, and Epiphany. The pipes are a Peterson in that unique Peterson shape (is there a name for that?), and two Stanwells: a Bulldog and a Canadian. I smoke a jar of tobacco before replacing it in the rotation, and I swap out the pipes every week or two. What's your strategy?

I really dont have one. I walk to my little area with about 50 bags and jars and figure out what I want to smoke. After that I choose a pipe to go with it. Sometimes I'll have a craving all day for a particular blend, so then I have plenty of time to pick a pipe.
Some blends go unsmoked for weeks or months, some pipes do the same. Others get used every other day

I grab whatever suits my fancy at the moment. Sometimes that is influenced by weather, sometimes the mood I am in. Sometimes the tobacco I want to smoke.

I usually put three or so in my pack and choose one to smoke on my way home from work and/or during lunch. Exact same with pipes.

I agree with Sperrytops, I like to smoke any tobacco at any time in whatever pipe I happen to pick up

I rotate my pipes so that I only smoke a bowl in one pipe and then it is put back, so a particular pipe may only get smoked once a week or so. I generally use certain pipes for aromatics. As far as tobacco, it's whatever I feel like at the time.

Having over 100 pipes and smoking mainly 3 straight Va's I usually smoke a different pipe with each bowl. I usually smoke 6 to 8 bowls a day so rarely smoke the same pipe every day. I may smoke a certain pipe two days in a row . I also many times smoke the same blend all day in all bowls I smoke that day.

With many dozen pipes in front of me and a dozen open tins/jars, I just let the moment decide. Most times, but I will go into the room with a plan—on the rare occasion.

Plan ?. . . . we don't need no stinkin' plan. Haha. I'm with you and the others. I don't do rotation, except that I don't smoke the same pipe more than once in the day, but i would only smoke more than once a day a handful of times a year. I don't rotate tobaccos at all. If i did that, I wouldn't be able to read the labels on the jars.

I still only have 1 pipe that I use, so I switch between left and right handed. It is a corncob pipe and I was told these do not carry over a residual taste, which allows me to switch between 3 tobaccos. I am still learning to taste the difference, so I just alternate between them. I am up to 3 bowls a week, so once a week each. I am sure the will help a lot of ya'll out. lol
I like reading your posts to teach me.

As more than a few have said, I don't have an official procedure. I smoke what my urge desires, in what ever pipe strikes my fancy.
With a few exceptions -
Mostly, I do not smoke a pipe twice in a row without a cleaning. So the rotation is that every pipe I have smoked is placed in my "to be cleaned" box. Once a week or so I clean all the pipes in the box and return them to their places in the "smoke me" box or the racks.
As far as tobacco, I have no real rules or procedures. One thing I refuse to do is let the current state of my stash to determine my smoke. I mean, I will not smoke in order to empty a tin or jar, I won't smoke to work through a pile of tins in order to justify owning them or to make room for future purchases. I won't smoke because something to keep it from going bad.
Last I checked I have about 62 pipes total. Some of them get smoked a lot, some very rarely. All have been and are occasionally smoked. Because I don't get to cleaning more than once a week, I have multiples of a few of my favorite pipes, like my beloved Savinelli 320EX (in my opinion the hands down best smoking pipe I have ever had the sublime opportunity to try), and a few of my chimney pipes and church wardens.
And as for my stash. I could go a few months without a purchase, if I had to. Thats about it. And it is mostly filled with favorites and a several tasters and samples I haven't gotten to.
I quite understand those with strict rotation procedures, but I have so many procedures at work that I just don't want to think about it when smoking.

I am reading an old pipe smoking devotional and tongue in cheek instructional book. The author says about meerschaums that one has to be careful about not letting the pipe get control of you, and determine that it needs a smoke, i.e. the tendency to smoke the meerschaum in order to generate the color, smoking for the sake of the pipe, and not purely for the enjoyment of the smoking itself.

The only time I plan what I smoke is for when I'm working. I grab whatever blend stikes me and it goes back to the pile when I get home. When home it's all fair game with tobacco. I've smoked lat bombs and moved on to an aromatic then a virginia and a burley or I'll stay with same blend all day. As far as pipes go I have six everyday smokers next to my chair and they get smoked every day. I will smoke my other pipes in between and some of those can go a long time before they get smoked again.

I have this hanging out of my mouth quite a bit throughout the day. I tend to smoke through a lb or 12 oz can of tobacco, with an occasional selection from my modest cellar. If I have time to sit and relax with a pipe, I may choose a briar or different cob, but when I am on the go, I fill this from the jar, grab a pre-filled pouch to reload when needed and smoke away. Right now, I am about 2/3 of the way through a lb of 7 Seas Black and I am enjoying the hell out of it.

Whichever pipe says good morning to me first in a pleasant tone like they are happy to see me.
