Wake me up when they are half-price. I am content with OEM equipment...pipes or cars, they just seem to work for me....for the most part.

I have 2 bought when I was still working. No way to justify it now. My most smoked cobs have either upgraded stems from the factory, (Charles Towne Cobbler) or modified by Doug Erwin. The Forever stems are on pipes that I rarely smoke and I never feel the need retrieve them. The cheap stems just seem to fit the cobs fine.

I have a couple. They are great stems for cobs but I can't justify the price any longer. I have modified some stems off ebay and they are just as good and a lot cheaper. If I smoked a cob everyday I would think they are worth it. Once a month doesn't warrant the price.

If still offered, don't buy the 51/4" stem, it's a gurgler. I have one from first generation and 50% of the time, it smokes wet.

I think $26 for a preform acrylic stem is a bit much considering you can purchase one for $5 - $7 and fit it yourself with a little handy work. But, that's me.

If still offered, don't buy the 51/4" stem, it's a gurgler. I have one from first generation and 50% of the time, it smokes wet. If the tenon isn't counter sunk, try doing so, it might improve it. Also check the airway to make sure it's clear and smooth. If the airway at the tenon end is much smaller then the draft in the shank, taking a 9/64" or 5/32" tapered drill bit to it will improve it also. I've done this on my own and they improved greatly. Now I'm talking about non-original acrylic stems, not the original ones. As far as I'm concerned there garbage and only last maybe 6 months and then I throw them away and replace them with acrylic or vulcanite ones, which ever I have on hand.
If you've never done this before confide in someone who has first because you can ruin a stem easily if your not sure of what your doing.
