So, in an effort to afford a second Boswell pipe I've got a few things listed on eBay. Right now I'll be able to get another Boswell with some extra to spare. Now here's the conundrum -- I've got plenty of tobacco for now (any more and my wife will kill me), so I'm debating getting the Boswell and a cheaper Savinelli, or instead of a second pipe maybe I should invest in a Old Boy lighter? Are the Old Boys really that good? I'm currently using primarily a Zippo with pipe insert.
What say ye?

Every piper feels they must have a Ol Boy the magic wears off the first time you use it outside or when a fly farts. By all means grab two pipes and Zippo or a Bic lighter.

That's what I was needing to hear. I smoke exclusively outside so I've gotta have something that will stay lit. Maybe I'll pick up a few extra Zippos with the pipe inserts.

Zippo is a good buy you can get them fancy or not. I like the solid brass ones. I could be wrong but I believe Zippo will swap out the insert for a pipe one when you buy direct.

I'm a match man, but I'm on the go, or the wind isnt cooperating, I use a zippo pipe lighter. I've had it for over 5 years and it's been through hell and back. I only have 1 Savinelli, but it's one of my favorite pipes. I've been meaning to pick up more, but none have screamed "buy me" yet. If I could pick a pipe OR lighter, I'd go with the pipe. There are many methods to get fire |
