Was just curious how many of you just sit and focus on your pipe your smoking and how many of you light up and get about doing your stuff while smoking. Me get up reach for a pipe ,load and get started for the day. I rarely just sit and smoke.

I only focus on the weekends...most of my smoking takes place with the dog facing the wind.

I'm split. Sometimes I go about my daily chores and other times I just like to sit and smoke and perhaps read while having some tea, coffee or scotch. I usually have a bowl at night after my day is over but if I'm working then I can't always just sit and smoke so I end up smoking while moving around quite a bit.

I really can’t do anything while smoking a pipe but I’m so fidgety that can’t just sit still. I usually smoke when I’m watching tv and/or noodling on the computer like now. I usually keep 2 or3 like pipes loaded that I puff on whenever I sit down.
I smoke cigars behind the wheel. Like sitting down in my chair and lighting a pipe when I get in my car I reach for a cigar.

50/50 for me. I'm usually out wandering through the woods with the dog somewhere, or walking her through the neighborhood late at night, but I'll usually find places to sit for 10 or 15 minutes at a time and just contemplate the smoke. In the neighborhood, once we've had our walk I'll sit in the backyard for the last half or third of the bowl. This actually gives each smoke a couple different levels - it tastes and feels different while walking vs sitting still.

I would sit and contemplate life or chat with the wife. Smoking is a hobby for me - it's something I DO in and of itself as opposed to something that I do in the background while focusing on something else.

I've tried reading, but I find when I read I neglect the pipe. Then it needs relit which requires putting the bookmark in the book, setting it down, lighting, picking book back up, etc etc etc. Too much hassle. I have taken to listening to podcasts, especially Star Talk in the evening.

80/20 for me. Most of the time I sit and smoke, usually reading something or on my iPad. I do often smoke while doing yard work or driving more than around town.

When I was working, some of my best smokes were split between the drive in and the return home. I here the term "yard-pipe" used a lot, but that concept holds no joy for me. My smoking is done here, in the Patch, or at night ,with a movie...a real favorite is at the table, after breakfast, as the wife reminds me of my shortcomings ,over coffee.

Pipe smoking for me is a kind of meditation. I sit on my back porch and let my mind go blank. I do this several times a day -- it keeps me sane.

I'm usually watching a TV show or movie while I smoke - in the garage or gazebo.

Rarely do I focus on the pipe anymore. I just light and smoke. Driving, watching, relaxing, cleaning pipes, etc. I do occasionally pipe and yard work but its always a cob and always a pain in the arse to bend over and eat ash. HAHAHA

Primarily I sit and contemplate. It's a hobby for me, and so I do it in the evenings to relax. Most of the time I sit on the porch, but occasionally I'm too fidgety so I end up wandering about our yard. Every so often I take it along for a walk through the neighborhood, but I haven't been walking much these days.

Usually sit and read while smoking...one thing I noticed is that frequently I can't tell what I am smoking unless it is a lat heavy smoke. Probably just an old fart thing.

I usually smoke my pipe while I read or watch TV/movies. I sometimes smoke in our back yard with my dog when the weather is especially nice, but it's a sedentary activity for me - a time to relax.

I like to use a pipeful to relax, so I sit and smoke, probably daydreaming. Always accompanied by a coffee in the morning and a shot of whiskey in the evening. And taking the opportunity to study nature around me.

The majority of the time I’m seated and focused on the smoke. A Meditation for me for sure. On occasion I do some writing or i am am on the briar patch. Driving with a pipe is pretty great, but I’m usually with wife and boy so don’t get to do this enough.

Work days. I smoke after work, before or after dinner, normally 1 bowl. Read the Patch, listen to pipe podcasts, YouTube pipers. Days off 2-3 bowls, just sitting, sometimes small things around home with a cob. But I find myself putting it down to often and not really enjoying it as I would if just relaxing.

Smoking and driving went together for me. Seldom was I behind the wheel without a peep clamped in me teeth.

Other than our pipe club meetings, I only smoke in my detached garage, smoking lounge, tool shop, fortress of solitude, etc.
