Baseball looks exactly like it did when I was a child, same hits, same catches. That's why I just don't get excited about sports after you have seen a couple hundred games you have seen them all. I did see Verlander choked again once again proving they should have hired Linda Lovelace in the off season to coach him, she never choked on the big ones. And I am not a fair weather fan because I am too damn frugal to buy new sports team hats and shirts so take that Charlie.

I don’t have any favorites whether it be baseball or football, at the end of the season I do like seeing them slug it out. Never into team labels, with a few exceptions most players are basically mercenaries... I cannot blame them though, as I believe in the free market.
I will probably never attend another live game, because smoking a pipe or cigar really goes well with being in that venue, but people with tight panties seem to drive what is acceptable in modern culture.
Not necessarily a bad thing, I can smoke at home, drink Johnny Walker Blue label at home cheaper than a warm 6oz. Cup of Miller beer in a stadium. I have free parking, the only obnoxious critter is my dog, and the restroom is a short walk.

I stopped going to pro games when the cost for two people was more money than buying a big screen with add on surround sound. Now in Tejas good luck going to a collage football game but college baseball is a really good deal for a afternoon of entertainment. What I find disgusting in pro baseball is the constant spitting and nut scratching it leads me to believe they all have jock itch. Oh I left out gum chomping. Then in the dugout they act like little leaguers good grief these are grown men acting like nine year old boys. Then when you do go to the game it takes them forever to do anything such as field change ups and the time between each pitch. I have attended baseball games where I had time to read War and Peace cover to cover. When I lived on the west coast the only way to get Dodgers tickets was to use the scalpers out front. They say baseball attendance is in decline and has been for many years and that is no surprise to me with concession prices being higher than a Ruth Chris steakhouse with two bottles of good wine. Then they play 162 regular games so they can play everyone else so they can play in the World Series. Count me out I have grass I need to watch grow and will catch the highlights on the sports channel.

During my Chicago trip last month, we decided on the spur of the moment to watch a Cubs game since my wife had never been to Wrigley Field.
Tickets were about 1/10 of the price for the Bears-Packers game (although I suspect the rest of the season will be much cheaper).

A day at the baseball park with friends and family is a great thing. We can't afford it now of course, but we have friends who have season tickets for the local (Sugarland Skeeters) Atlantic League team. It's just a great way to get out of the house with like minded people and eat a hot dog with a beer. I like the "spirit" in Chicago. I got to watch a Bears/Broncos game in a bar there in the 70s and it was the most fun I ever had watching a pro football game. The fans were the entertainment. They wouldn't even let me buy a drink, being a guest, I guess. Great people.

Confession... I never ate peanuts or Cracker Jacks at a baseball game. I ate peanuts at the first couple of games I went to just for the tradition. They didn't have Cracker Jacks. After that I balked at paying $5 for peanuts.

Astros cheapest ticket is in the 40 to 70$ range, too damn expensive for a Dad with a couple kids, and they wonder why the attendance is off. Tradions are going by the wayside because of money grubbing selfish 💩 holes.

Sitting down to watch the game and they are going to try Verlander again. The wife has gained control of the remote so I will get to watch two or three things at once.

Even last night there was what could have been a critical call at first. Wasn't critical in the end because the Nats had the perfect reply. And I have seen thousands of BB games. This is a good WS. GO NATS! And I think I attended my last game about ten years ago. Don't like crowds anymore, and have a fine smoking/TV/listening room.

Well Mac I can enjoy a few games I just don't want to watch all of them. If you follow a team for all 161 games that's 500 hours or so. Same with golf I like the Masters. I watch a few of games of every type. I really like the Big3 basketball just old NBA players and lots of talent without the NBA BS.

Why do they try for the extra base? Why did they end up second place? Lastros baseball disappointing fans since 1962 they should have just stayed the Colt45's.

I am thinking of the fans. Houstonians as opposed to DC dwellers. Not all fans of a team live in a certain area and not all people in a certain area are stereotypical. Should I generalize that all Texans wear huge hats and scream "yeehaw" to get pumped up? No because that would make me an a$$hole.

Without me getting deeper into it politically, the Washington fans were an embarrassment the other night...regardless of ones political views a sitting president deserves better...I could not stand certain other presidents, but using a sports venue for political purposes...you respect the office regardless of the officeholder....kind of old fashioned that way.

I don't disagree with you there. Truth be told, I have respect for you and I'm sure we have more in common than not. Still, disliking or wishing a team din't win based on that or their location as such is not a reason. Yeah, sadly there were people there that night who were out of line. No matter if I agree with them or not, there is a time and a place, that was not it. They do not speak for all the fans though. I live in a rural farming community in Maryland and there are a lot of Nats fans here just because its the "local" team. I use that term loosely because we're on Delmarva. Never the less, those fans I know are die hard Trump fans too who while not happy with what took place that night, wont dislike the team because of certain people and their lack of respect. As I've said many times, I have no team I root for, I just enjoy the show. Tonight was a good show and both teams worked their butts off to get there. But like the Highlander, there can be only one. lol

The fans in DC seemed pretty stereotypical I wonder if they will burn down the capitol tonight?
