Perhaps it would be wise to read the NPC15 by the IPCC and the rebuttal report by NIPCC before passing judgement on anyone. YOUR MILEAGE MAY Vary means you get to think whatever you want. As soon as Al Gore gives up his 22 room mansion on the beach that's uses 30 times the energy of the average home. Next to his yacht and private jet plane I promise to make my coffee using a solar stove and do without on cloudy days. Man... I was really going to let this go, since I've had these discussions often enough to know how they end up: with others angry at me, even though all I'm doing is advocating a dispassionate analysis of available data. I remain confused as to why that is so offensive to some people, but apparently it is. But, I've got to thank you. I don't understand how it's possible, but until you mentioned it, I'd never heard of the "NIPCC". I just read their latest "report". It was actually illuminating. I honestly had no idea just how many bizarrely, blatantly false claims are being traded around as "evidence". I can't even easily summarize how bad this is. It would be like me claiming that tornadoes aren't real, because Elvis was abducted by aliens. It literally reaches that level of making no sense at all. Multiple chapter titles are provably untrue. The others contain such loaded questions and false dichotomies that they're almost impossible to even analyze (which I assume is the point). The entire layout, the fonts etc., are all identical to the real IPCC report, which is pretty obviously dishonest at best. In the end, it's not even "bad science". It's no kind of science at all, and it's published by the Heartland Institute, an organization with a long history of accepting money from special interests in exchange for long-term disinformation campaigns. Much of their agenda on attacking climate science was exposed in leaked internal documents in 2012. They are not and have never even pretended to be a research organization, so why anyone would go to them for science is puzzling to begin with. In short... WOW. This was something else. I need a pipe now. But dammit I'm in California tonight! 😁

And I should clarify, since I uncharacteristically let a little snark creep into that lat post, that it's not directed at Psycholime or anyone else here. Sorry if it seemed otherwise. It's directed at the folks who are intentionally trying to spread disinformation; the people who wrote the NIPCC "report".

Smoking is not popular and never will be again. I guess I just assume there’s no smoking in public anymore.
