As you can see in my photo I am smoking a great Medico Frank bulldog which was a gift from a brother here on the forum.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some other Medico bulldogs that smoke VERY well - I mean this thing smokes like a top. I only have one other Medico pipe and I am just so impressed with the Frank bulldog.
The reason is I am going to start smoking more aromatics because I have to cut my nicotine down. Virginias are just too heavy. Medical problems means I need less stimulants, especially nicotine and caffeine.

To clarify, I don't want to ruin all of my other pipes with black cavendish, lots of PG, and all of the other gooey mess they put in aromatics in my more expensive pipes.

I mean for $30 what do I have to lose.. I may just buy a bunch of them, Guardsmans, Crest 80s, Medalists, Ever-dris etc and see what I like. I just can't put a tobacco like Vanilla Custard or even aromatic American English tobaccos like Spilmans in a $100-300 pipe.

I'm sorry I can't help. Does it have to be a medico bulldog?
Do I also take it you're not a cob fan?

I love cobs and I have many, many of them.. They're so cheap, and I don't mind dropping them on the pavement. A nick here in there gives them character. Not so with my briars.
There's just something special about a briar pipe.

I agree. There is something special. Which is why I try to make my cobs look like briars.

I just can't put a tobacco like Vanilla Custard or even aromatic American English tobaccos like Spilmans in a $100-300 pipe. The Guardsman pipes have a bowl grate and carburetor / ventilator system which are designed to produce a cool smoke. Fresh air is drawn into the carb hole at the bottom of the bowl while smoking. A grate like effect, a metal tube with holes, an extension of the filter holding mortise, is used to keep the very bottom of the bowl free of tobacco while smoking. The combination works to produce an easy draw and cool smoke. The draw is somewhat reduced if an optional 6mm filter is used. The following post from the another forum shows pics and describes the features. www.tapatalk.com/groups/drgrabows/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6496&p=106868&hilit=Medico+Guardsman#p106868Show us what you buy.

If price is an issue, Dr. Grabow's Royalton line can be had for $30-$40. Nice little pipes with acrylic stems.
