So, as requested, another review by a novice pipe smoker who is simply enjoying this hobby.
I enjoyed what ended up being roughly half a bowl of this blend while sitting on my front porch in the early morning just after sunrise. I sipped at a cup of coffee, listened to the birds, and talked to my old dog Buddy who was laying on a blanket in front of me. I used my bent briar because its bowl hold a little more than the Kaywoodie.
Like before, I left what I thought would be a pipe full in a jar open to the air overnight. In my opinion, it was too long as the tobacco was a bit crisp. This lent to me not packing tight enough, and so I didn't use the full pinch. I had some issues with it going out, probably due to the light pack. This is also why I call it about half a bowl.
The taste was very pleasing, it definitely has a sweet side, but its not overpowering. After quite a bit of deliberation trying to decide what I believe best describes the flavor I must conclude it is well named. The flavor was to me somewhat reminiscent of Amaretto, but that doesn't quite describe it as well as to simply say fruity, plum like, with hints of what fresh cut hay smells like as it dries in the field before bailing.
In short, while I did have to relight more than I'd hoped, I thoroughly enjoyed the bowl and only wish I'd packed tighter so I could have enjoyed a longer smoke with fewer relights. For me it seems that smoking my pipe is not unlike a pleasant journey through the countryside.

Is it close to Penzance?

MacBaren's Plumcake was one of the first tobacco's I tried when starting up with the pipe back in 1967. It was rich and delicious. The tin aroma was quite pleasing and portended great things to come. A very satisfying smoke. Naturally, over the years, it became leaner but was still very satisfying.

I picked up a tin of this a week ago. Very enjoyable. The only limitations I found on it is that it tends to burn a little on the fast side and at least for me it needs to be larger bowl. Anything smaller then a .75" bowl and it does not smoke as well and looses it flavor.

I picked up a plumcake by Mac Barack but mine says “Plumcake in Navy flake.” Is this the same blend? If it is I found it somewhat tasteless and nothing like what it was advertised. As a cigar smoker I’m very good at picking up various tasting notes but thought this blend was bland. Also, didn’t find any tongue bite which a lot of reviewers warned readers about either. I don’t consider myself a fast smoker or a slow one either. Am I missing something or is it just me?

It is a very good one, though much better when it still had Syrian latakia. Cigar experience won't be of much help smoking a pipe, producing voluminous smoke will kill any flavor. Wisps to nearly no smoke is where that is. Just barely keeping the ember from going out is the magic point.
