mypipeclub.com/forum/It was a fun run, but Papa Tango had too many things on his plate, and really didn't have the time to manage the forum... I wish I would have known beforehand and could have encouraged the other members to check in over here, and give Patrick a proper thanks, I know that he had put a lot of work into it.

The political post over there got me pretty frustrated...Other than that I enjoyed it very much.I'm really sorry to see it gone.

I hear you , Ithink that it might have been allright had politics stayed in the hidden forum, but lack of supervision resulted in some of it being posted in general. It seemed like there was a mass exodus when the hacking took place, and open portals were allowed... that mischief caused many to hoof it.

I was surprised to learn that it had still been operational up until this point.

I've not been foruming lately, but ironically I just popped in over at mypipeclub and saw it was pulled down. That was a fun time for the year or so I was active there. Sorry to see it go.

Its been dying for awhile, a lot of good people was chased off. There was some good conversations held in the beginning and a lot of good information shared. Then the focus became time in the swamp then things went down hill. I think I posted 6 times in the past few months. Sorry to see it go.

Good to see you Dan, your efforts on bringing the blends onto the market have been a blessing... I hope that the blends can live long and prosper.

It was those dang Russians. Yeah, that's right IT WAS THE RUSSIANS!
What I find comically hilarious is a forum with even a small posting membership of adults would allow themselves to be trolled and fall for the bait cast upon the forum and act like playground children ranting and fighting amongst themselves over trivial political topics when there were so many other life altering topics to be debated such as ... Is a cob really a pipe? .... Should aromatic smokers be considered human? ... Should Va/Per smokers be declared he rulers of the pipe world? ... Should all the self proclaimed artisians be allowed to call themselves a pipemaker until they can make 10ea perfect representations of the classic shapes? ... Why when atakia is smoked does it smell like 3yr old sweaty dirty socks? ... Why cigars are actually better than pipes? ... yes, with so many more far mpre important topics to be figyred out why would anyone let themselves fall prey to political trash other than deep down they themselves were, well the total lack of control led to the demise of that forum. Seen it happen many times before and it will happeb many more times. Oh well it was a grand place for the first few months and then it became just another forum of misfits starting a slow but sure downward spiral and now you its just a memory. Gee, its been gone for only a few hours now and its already a far past lingering memory. Lets all move along now and leave it in the past. I know that I'm already forgetting it because it was what it was and its time to move on.

It was rather fun while it lasted . The only forum where you could say a blend sucked if it did . The swamp despite the warnings to stay away was widely popular and amusing , more so than the pipe portion of the web site .

I was disappointed that without warning, the site was closed. I was on yesterday morning then tried later in the day and it was gone. Would have been nice to have a little notice before it closed. Oh well, I guess that 4 pounds of Condor RR that I was going to give away will go back into my cellar..

P'S. I have had bad experience of bad sites where I have been banned arbitrarily, without recourse to any appeal, and run by anonymous crooks, for being polite & defending myself from trolls attacks, hopefully I have learnt about toeing the line & avoiding trollish bait, this forum is a friendly bunch of people , welcome aboard may I say, in peace.,.

It was a unique venue, for sure. I'm sorry things went the way they did and will take away the good times while forgiving the rest. Mostly, I hope to still find all of my pipe smoking pals still circulating online!

I joined this forum when it launched, great group, well built site, but with limited surf times, I decided to post at one site... think I will park it here.

The closing of My Pipe Club is sad. Aside from the nostalgia associated with my personal involvement in launching and growing the site, it is unfortunate to see ANY pipe and tobacco related resource fade into history. We are a small community that seems to get smaller by the day. Often it is outside influences, sometimes they are internal squabbles and disagreements. That being said, The Briar Patch was started as a place for everyone and will continue to be in the future. I'm happy to see some familiar faces and I hope this becomes the place you can all settle into.

Even with Trump's refugee delays I made it here. Good to see familiar names and looking forward to becoming familiar with the rest.

I'm sorry to see it end. There were some good discussions among the members, and although I posted there little I always included it in my daily reading of the pipe boards.
I've always thought of forum communications as being delicate. Mixing a wide spread of personalities involved in discussions without the benefit of face to face inflection calls for careful choices of words. This forum seems to have gotten around that problem.

It did feel like a train wreck to me at times but Im still going to miss it.

I met some great people there, had fun posting there, learned a whole bunch more about pipe smoking but then the club started to come off the rails with name calling ,questioning the integrity of other members and then outright personal attacks on members from other members over some polarizing social issues. I am sorry to see the forum close up shop but from that place I came here and find I have much more pleasant time interacting with other members and I don't feel awkward asking questions here.I felt very out of place there...I felt like I showed up wearing jeans and my favorite flannel and everyone else was wearing the latest formal wear. Just my thoughts and I have no regrets of being a member there,I just feel I have found a home here.

Justin is excellent. He moderates, steps in when necessary, allows people to have their say and doesn't dominate. My experience here has been great. Baboo said it best, there's no backwoods BS here. It's a plethora of preferences with respect for all.
