Zut Alors!
In rural France, all the bakeries are closing. People will soon have to purchase fresh bread, you know, those baguettes they eat, from a vending machine. I guess the economics no longer support individual village bakeries? This is will be difficult. As you know, bread is considered to be the soul of France. A staple. Every village, town and city has its bakeries turning out fresh baked bread daily early each morning. Bread is eaten the day it is baked or considered "Lost Bread" and consigned to a cooking ingredient. This is the worst news since the 'Flour War of 1775". www.nytimes.com/2019/11/10/world/europe/france-bakery-closures.html

Time for another revolution. Did the French citizenery learn their lesson and keep their guns, or are they going to have to do it the old fashioned way? Main reason I got my teeth fixed was that I wanted to eat bread in Lemans.

It's funny, because the revitalization of so many small towns in Texas begins with an artisan bakery.

They have done well with those in the past.

That's the way revolts are supposed to be fought. Not with buttons

Swift, about as painless as they come, I guess. Reading how much trouble Headsmen had in England with some executions, Dr. Guillotine's inventions was a mercy.

That's kinda sad. it's their way of life, in a sense. Maybe times have changed a lot and we haven't noticed.

The west, Clare and Galway, were like that when I was there in 1972. Mostly, people drank beer and Stout. A few could afford whisky. Now, the beer was mostly the Stout, to be sure, but there were calls for Harp Lager and, as I recall, Double Diamond made inroads in a few Pubs. Oh, the shame of it! I can claim no black hand lifted such a pint in this house!!!! Pipes were frequent as were cigarettes. Mostly Player's Navy Cut and Sweet Afton.
