In my continuing quest to focus on quality over quantity, this curvy beauty caught my eye on eBay. It was love at first sight of the rim. Luckily, the auction didn’t run up too high. I think that the auction ending on Sunday of the West Coast Pipe Show helped with that. For an estate pipe, it is in super excellent shape. Although broken in, the exterior was still in pristine condition. Internally, it just needed a few pipe cleaners with Everclear; like a standard cleaning. My kudos to the previous keeper of this pipe for keeping it in such great shape. The pipe is a Tom Eltang Saturn grade blasted bent Danish Dublin with a birdseye rim to die for. Tom used to grade his pipes from Moon, Saturn, Star, Sun, up to Snail. Today, only the Snail grade is still in use. Otherwise, today, price indicates grade. At a 5.5” length, this pipe is a super light, well balanced clencher. It smokes as good as it looks, too.

That settles it..that pipe is a dog! Pretty cool...Tom Eltang is in the who's who of pipe makers and his reputation is at such A high level, I don't even look at the prices his pipes can fetch...That is great that you were able to score one comfortably priced, James...pretty cool that the previous owner did such a fine job of being your pipe custodian.

I have no idea why a man would focus on quantity over quality with pipes...
They are for smoking. You only need 6 or so. I have way too many at three dozen or so.
Beautiful pipe, enjoy it in good health.

Some of us go for quality and quantity! But quality first now; in the beginning there were some quantity goals. The right number of pipes is one more than you have now! Or so I have read.
I have slowed down in acquisitions, thank heavens.
