Doesn't look like anymore fires this year so I started tarping off my remaining wood supply today. Now smoking 2011 Mac Baren Va #1 I tapped earlier today in a James Upshall Tilshead Canadian. Age does make a difference with this one. Mellow all day smoke now and the sweetness shines. Drinking a pint of Guinness Stout and watching PBS News Hour on the work barn TV.

Enjoying Lancer Slices in a Briarworks Neptune Reverse Calabash Rhodesian. On my second bowl ever of the stuff and I must admit, super tasty and really enjoying it. Not sure if it's the pipe contributing to that or not and will try it in a lat caked broken-in Nording later to see if it's better/same/worse.

Finished my half-bowl of St. Bruno Flake and went right to a baby briar bowl of blind date Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Brown Pigtail Sweet Brandy/Sweet Rum/Sweet/Toffee Brown/Extra Sweet Brown (hellifIknow4sure?... not really sure yet which exactly), compliments of Stan a/k/a Motto. Thanks to his generous sample, I will be ordering more when I nail it down. No bitterness or tongue burn at all as one might expect - each puff is a delightful surprise. It has a wonderful strong flavor n nic profile, yet very smooth w/sweet backdrop w/mild cigar note and nice burn after a 30 minute dry time. NOT an aro but a pure Virginia with CHARACTER, grace, and Daniel Boone gravitas! A special stout smoke with lots of sweet pleasure! Thanks again to Stan for introducing me to another winner! The man knows what's good! ...damn good the more down the bowl you go!!! Makes for a good flavorful nic chew, and ground down extra-fine top-notch snuff! 5 Stars!
