They are still making the gasoline powered Mustang. I saw something recently about a new 800hp engine. As I remember, the average Mustang from the old days weren't all that great. The first generation was just a new body on a Falcon. The next generation had a heavy mid sized car chassis. I drove a few and never saw the attraction, well, except for that 1969 Boss 302.

More than one friend of mine growing up didn't believe me when I told them there was one in the garage . My dad bought the car new, had it parked through much of the late 70s-80s, moderately restored it and only drives it on nice summer days. It's nowhere near showroom quality right now but he's still had some crazy offers!

Hmmm... It will be interesting. Regardless of the name and front end styling, its a crossover and an electric so its most definitely NOT a Mustang. Still, if the range was just a bit higher I'd be interested. Of course, I'll never be able to afford it so its just a pipe dream but hey; I like my pipe!

I guess electric is the coming thing...but it will never replace my gas powered vehicles. Can't get any distance with batteries at least at this point....and finding a charging station is like finding hen's teeth.

I dunno about that, Tesla model S with extended batteries is boasting 400 miles. Even over the road that's quite a bit of driving. Around town it would work just fine, even for me in the Phoenix Metro area. Of course that particular car has a six digit price tag so I will never have one but a man has to have dreams..

This thread got me thinking about a friend of mine in 1974. WE made it from Los Angeles to San Francisco in three hours driving his 428 equipped Mustang up Highway 5. I do not recall if we ever dropped below 100 MPH. I recall we hit 140 for a while.
The fastest I ever drove was 155 MPH but that was in Germany.

The mustang as I've known it has been dead since the late 70s so.. Whatever Indeed. The original Mustang was not intended to be a muscle car. How it came to that, I don't know.

That was a 900 hp all electric engine. However that was a custom car for a show done by Mustang as a prelude to announcing Mustang electric cars.

Well you always had the option of v6 or v8, its a pony car. Badass and speed when you want it or need it but the main deal is its just really cool looking The problem with the modern mustang is it just looks like any other car now, it could be a Acura or some lame Japanese car, theyre all the same, the style has lots its way

Definitely gasoline.

I liked my 525 miles on a tank of gas in my old pickup, and fill it up in 7 minutes and do it again. Plus, I will never spend enough on gas to pay the difference for an electric car.

The real sea change in automotive styling, was getting the buying public to accept 4-doors as the norm.

The real sea change in automotive styling, was getting the buying public to accept 4-doors as the norm. I took my driver's test in a new 66 Olds Starfire. The door had to be 5 feet long. Then I drove a 71 Lincoln Continental 2 door, a 65 Cadillac 2 door, and a 71 T-Bird 2 door. They look good, but 4 doors are more practical. Those other cars except for the T-Bird were my brother's. My first car was a Rambler Classic 4 door and I liked it a lot.

Definitely gasoline. Absolutely certain 2 different cars. There was a custom Mustang built for a Car Show with a 900 HP electric engine. The interesting comment was that though a manual shift wasn't necessary with the electric, they included it anyway for look and feel. Check it out here: www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/sema-show/a29701672/2019-electric-ford-mustang-lithium-concept-pictures-specs-hp-info/
