Didn't even notice this thread before. Been playing a lot of bass lately. I wasn't planning on getting another bass since I have a 5-string Carvin that I had made shortly before Kiesel bought them. Great bass, covers about anything you could want. I've been revisiting a lot of soul and RnB from the 70s lately though; so when I've got the chance to buy one of the last year's Vintera series at a discount I went for it. I was wondering how the Mexican made Fender would hold up as I played on American Original and Custom Shop before, but frankly, I feel like I stole something. Great tone and feel, got more than my money's worth. Fender Vintera 50s Precision Bass in Vintage Blonde. My Carvin SB5000 next to it. I have tapewounds on both, La Bellas on the Fender, D'Addarios on the Carvin. I also play piano and guitar, but bass is what I'd call "home". Just laying the foundation and sitting in the groove...

I've played guitar for many years. Been in a number of bands and church teams.
Here is a tune from a little gig my friend and I used to play. The "Saturday Market" in downtown Greenville, SC draws 40 or 50 vendors from May through October; they set up white tents all along both sides of Main St. and shut it down to traffic. They get tons of attendees every Saturday. We were not just busking, Greenville actually sweetened the pot with some cash...and then we took all tips given. We'd play music from 8 am - noon. They'd have just one group do this each Saturday, and we did it quite a number of times over a 10 year period. Haven't done this gig in a few years, I miss it. This is Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder...sorry for the poor sound quality. The syncopation part is a lot of fun:
Here is me noodling with a song I'd written some years ago:

I play the radio, and all I get is static.

Would you be more likely to attend a pipe show, if a room were set aside to get together and pick a little? Certainly! I play guitar, banjo, and fiddle. I have played drums in the past. There are a bunch of photos and videos at Jim Krause Music

Ya gotta have a Gretsch for that southern style thumb picking. :-) Get a Gretsch....do not pass Go....do not collect $200.00.

I'm surprised that Grestch guitars aren't more expensive. They are barely more than my Mexican Tele. I don't really play, but my friends and family are all Les Paul guys so I guess they distorted my idea of the cost of guitars. Or it might just be that they are more valuable to hock.

Yea I have been surprised how reasonably priced they are. You get a lot of guitar for a buck.
