Okay early this month I bought my virtual pipe club Sutliff blend and here is what I think about it.. First off it is very high quality blend of some top shelf leaf.. the tobacco smokes perfectly right out of the tin and creates a large amount of billowing smoke. While I am not a huge fan of "crossover" blends, this blend did indeed catch my attention did not let go. There was a vanilla rush to my nose when I opened the tin and I was thinking here is a really nice Sutliff aro. Well once I lit my pipe I found there was much more to this than Just a garden variety aromatic... Latakia .. smoky Latakia.. now this is where the blend really grabbed me.. this could be a great stand alone Lat blend or a stand alone vanilla aromatic that can't be beat. This is also where I decided that this will not be in my rotation, not because it is a bad blend but because it doesn't really fit into either catagory and that will drive me crazy. I will keep a tin on hand for the times when I get the urge for something really different. 5/5 stars for quality of the blend.. 5/5 stars for making this blend work as well as it does.. a personal 3.5/5 stars for not really having a true identity.. but this is just me.. I will not go out of my to find this nor will I turn up my nose to this blend.. I just need to be in the mood for this blend and I don't see that mood striking me in a consistent way.

Straight forward, easily understood reviewing style. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the review.
I got a tin of this in the goody bag at the Richmond show, and didn't know anything about it. Couldn't even find it on tobaccoreviews.com

Thanks for the review. I got a tin of this in the goody bag at the Richmond show, and didn't know anything about it. Couldn't even find it on tobaccoreviews.com I came away with the same goody bag, two in fact ,as the wife was with me...to be honest I did't know what to think of Eastfarthing ;as the OP said ,it just doesn't "fit". After two bowls I remembered a cheap, Churchill sized cigar a friend had given me...I cut off a fingers worth of the stogie ,removed the wrapper , added an equal amount of Eastfarthing to my spill tray, and cut it all down to equal size bits with kitchen shears. I gave this a healthy toss till it was well mixed and left it out to dry. Next morning I had a very nice smoke with strong coffee. the blend was { for me at least }much improved . one thing I must tell you is that the no-name Churchill had a nice cigar aroma ,but also a slight hint of coco, and that's what gave me the idea...i'll likely cut the rest of the cigar up with the balance of the tin.

A Vanilla/Lat blend is a bit frightening. Like something twisting the laws of nature. I'm talking Frankenstein.

I was wondering why the Arizona Pipe club was left out on this one....it must be that they know that we are discriminating smokers, and schluffed it off on guys like Mikey..."Give it to Mikey, he will smoke anything!" Seriously, thanks for the review Mike, it isn't a wheelhouse blend for me it sound...plenty others will like it I suppose.

this is the second blend to use the word farthing
Farthing | Definition of Farthing by Merriam-Webster
Oct 12, 2019 - Definition of farthing. 1a : a former British monetary unit equal to ¹/₄ of a penny. b : a coin representing this unit. 2 : something of small value : mite.

I got back to this thread last night , and decided to start my day with a revisit to my little tub. My tub has been open for some time now and also laced with the filler from a large ,coco tinted cigar. I think both the open tin time and cigar leaf have been a real plus. Honestly, the only latakia I get from this blend is in the form of a slight aftertaste; as with Middeltons Walnut perhaps, it might be different without it, but the flavor doesn't say latakia. If you came away from the Sutliff/Richmond show with a can of this blend, I'd say crack it open and let it set for a while...if you enjoy blends like C.B. Royal, as I do ,you might like it as is, I didn't like it much so I messed around with it till I did; try something you like mixed with it, Heck, it was free! Free tobacco...now there's two words you don't see together everyday. Sutliff has given away more of these black cavendish offerings than I can shake a stick at, some of them I liked and some not, some I gave away and some I doctored on . Blends not so sweet, like #5, and Great Outdoors I've smoked up and reordered, as I'm sure you have. I guess the point of my long-winded post is , don't waste it...smoke it, mix with it, give it away...just don't jar it; it needs air more than age.

A Vanilla/Lat blend is a bit frightening. Like something twisting the laws of nature. I'm talking Frankenstein. Not at all. I had to blend Penzance with 1Q to make it smokable. Crossover blends aren't bad at all.

I ordered 2 tins from P&C, but they are backorderd. Jim gave them a higher review than he did for Frog Morton Cellar.

After reading reviews here I want to try this now. Missing Frog Morton Cellar.
