Have any non-aromatic people tried the new Amphora English?
“Jim Inks” at TobaccoReviews writes:
”The earthy, woody, smoky, leathery sweet Cyprian Latakia is the lead component, but not by much. The spicy, woody, earthy, mildly floral, dry and sour, moderately buttery sweet Orientals provide close competition, and at times, almost upstages the Latakia. The grassy, citrusy, lightly dark fruity Virginias are just above being a condiment in terms of effect, and not by its percentage in the blend. The strength is a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium, while the taste just misses the medium mark. The nic-hit is almost as potent as the strength. Won’t bite or get harsh, and has only a light rough edge at times. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with a mostly consistent, mildly sweet and smoky, savory flavor from top to bottom. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a lightly lingering pleasant campfire after taste and room note. By design, it’s an all day smoke with a little complexity and depth.”

I haven't tried it yet. It's not hit the UK market. I hope it will.

I have it ,and like it a lot...as usual Jim's review is spot-on. At the Sutliff/Richmond show the English was in a five pack with the Burley, Kentucky, Virginia, and Black Cavendish for a whopping twenty bucks a pack; dope that I am, I only got one pack!!!

I’m very happy with Mac Baren’s new Amphora English!
Not much of a smell in the pouch, but that isn’t a bad sign for a non-aromatic. Running my fingers through the perfectly cut ribbons I picked out just one very small bit of stem and could feel that there was no need for drying. The bowl packed and lit beautifully well and burned smooth and even. No bite; nothing to sour the palate, in fact nothing off-putting in the least. I’d packed it in an enormous Tompkins Freehand and tapped out before the end, but I could have smoked this slowly and evenly all the way down for at least another 45 minutes. Room note is very pleasant! The pouch style packaging is slick looking and convenient for preparation. For something of this quality the price is absurdly low.
Can’t wait to try the rest of the sampler pack!
