Beautiful pipe....but at that price, I'll go for one of Ron's (RdPipes) pipes first.

I'm just, kinda, you know, throwing this out there, but it's the LONDON Pipe Club! Are there no pipe makers in London anymore? After all, they have a long history of making pipes there. I have a bunch. Why go with an Eye-tail-Yan pipe maker instead of at least an English one? This whole EU stealing souls has something too it.

I think St. Claude France predates the English pipe makers. 😉

As restrictive as smoking space is there, they may have to go on vacation to enjoy it.

Yes, the French invented the briar pipe, along with good food. But there are English makers like Northern Briars and Askwith that I'm sure would have been happy to make the pipe. You know, I don't think that Washington MO pipe club wouldn't buy use an Italian maker.

The PCOL has a close relationship with Blakemar Briars who has made some of their POY’s... guessing that for the Golden Anniversary, they wanted more of a bling factor.

That's a mighty fine looking pipe. Still way to pricey for me, but it's nice to look at.

Probably one of the nicest of any club pipe I've seen at a fairly reasonable price point (which is always the sticky part of putting together a club pipe).
When was member and still getting The Journal the club was very close to Wm. Taylor of Ashton. From the States I was always jealous of their Ashton shop visits and trunk shows a few times a year.

Comparing that pipe to Ron's, I would go with Ron's pipe. Though if you are collecting the London Pipe Club series then its certainly one you would buy.

There are pipemakers in England. There are pipemakers in England that are willing and/or capable of making a POY.
Those are two very different statements. The former is obviously true. The latter may not be. For all we know the English makers chose not to accept the Pipe Club's invitation to make the POY. Unless someone here is on the POY committee for that club, everything we post here about the choice in maker is conjecture.
It's a lovely POY, regardless. Whomever buys one will surely not regret the club's choice in maker.

They still have some cool trunk shows and visits from the people at Samuel Gawith... they are a pretty hard core group when it comes to the hobby.

For the price point for the quality, I had to pull the trigger...it was my Teamster retirement gift to myself, the pictures do not do it justice, quite a beautiful pipe that I am sure will smoke well.

Didn't see this when it was first posted, but man that's a gorgeous pipe. That's got to be close to my ideal shape/finish right there. Congrats on picking one up.

The tassel sticking out behind the pipe looks like a little dude standing on the stem! He even looks like he’s smoking because of the wisp of white fibres coming out of the knot!
